After a rare slip-up in a 2-2 draw with Mainz last week, facing relegation-threatened Heidenheim offers Bayern Munich a chance to get back to business as usual, but will have to do...
DECEMBER 19 • Associated Press
Playing with Tunisia Skhiri has been called up by Tunisia for the AFCON starting Dec. 21 and ending Jan. 18.
Impact Skhiri was called by Tunisia for the AFCON and will miss all the games until at least the clash against Stuttgart on Jan. 13. The midfielder has been a regular starter in the heart of the game for Frankfurt, therefore his absence will have to be compensated, with Mahmoud Dahoud and Hugo Larsson as the two main options to pair in the pivot.
DECEMBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
Quiet in draw Skhiri registered one shot (zero on goal) and one cross (one accurate) in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg.
Impact Skhiri was back in the starting XI on Sunday, but he was in his normal defensive midfield role, which limits his offensive upside heavily. Skhiri took a single shot and sent in a single cross, but most of his volume will come defensively. Skhiri has also rotated consistent with Fares Chaibi taking on a role as a deep-lying playmaker.
DECEMBER 1 • ROTOWIRE
Training in full but eased back Skhiri has been training in full but will be eased back into the next fixtures, coach Dino Toppmoller said in the press conference. "We are glad that Ellyes is back. It was unfortu...
Impact Skhiri has fully recovered from his knee injury and was back available on the bench for the game against Hoffenheim before the international break. The midfielder has been training in full but will be eased back into action in the coming games to avoid any setbacks. Skhiri was an undisputed starter in the midfield last season and will likely get that role back once at full fitness. Until then, Fares Chaibi is getting an increased role in the midfield for the Eagles.
SEPTEMBER 11 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to bench Skhiri (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's clash against Hoffenheim.
Impact Skhiri has been cleared to return but will only start Saturday's match on the bench. He had been dealing with undisclosed issues and passed a late fitness test after resuming training this week. With the club taking a cautious approach, he may be eased back into action despite starting 26 times last season and being a key player of the midfield of the eagles.
AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE
Will be tested for Saturday Skhiri (undisclosed) is a late call for Saturday's match against Hoffenheim, according to manager Dino Toppmoller.
Impact Skhiri is still battling undisclosed issues and will need to pass a fitness test to play Saturday, as he is now set to train ahead of the match to decide his status. That said, the club appears to be taking a cautious approach and probably won't want to risk him to begin. However, he did start in 26 of his 30 appearances last season, so he should see a solid role once fit.
AUGUST 28 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play opener Skhiri (undisclosed) is not an option for Saturday's match against Werder Bremen, according to manager Dino Toppmoller. "Ellyes isn't an option yet either."
Impact Skhiri is going ot fall to the sidelines as the club enters the season, with the midfielder not recovered from his undisclosed injury. That said, his return is still up in the air, with the club giving little on his status. He will hope for his return soon, as he is set to see decent time once fit, starting in 26 of his 30 appearances last season.
AUGUST 21 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with injury Skhiri has just started to train again after dealing with an injury, according to manager Dino Toppmoller.
Impact Skhiri was sidelined the past few weeks with an injury, but has made his way back to the field this week, with the midfielder taking the field for training. That said, he is in a decent spot to make a return soon, possibly featuring in the opener on Aug. 23. He is set to be a starter, so he will hope to be an option for their season opener.
AUGUST 15 • ROTOWIRE
Nets Saturday Skhiri scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one chance created during Saturday's 3-1 win over Freiburg.
Impact Skhiri played a large role during the 2024/25 campaign, though his offensive contributions fell to nearly nothing with his departure from a penalty-taking role. The defensive midfielder is a solid option in the middle of the park with limited upside. Rumors have swirled that he could be rotated more next season, though that would likely depend on summer editions in the middle of the park.
MAY 19 • ROTOWIRE
Bench addition Skhiri (knee) is on the bench for Saturday's match against Stuttgart.
Impact Skhiri is with the team despite appearing to have a minimal chance of returning, with the midfielder seeing a spot on the bench after his knee injury. It appears they are still being cautious as he is typically a starter, probably testing his legs before seeing that spot again next contest.
MARCH 29 • ROTOWIRE
Outside chance Saturday Skhiri (knee) returned to training Saturday, per manager Dino Toppmoller.
Impact Skhiri got back in training during Friday's session, though he remains a major doubt for Saturday's showdown with Stuttgart. The midfielder has struggled with the knee for weeks and while he did train individually earlier in the week it's largely a pain management issue.
MARCH 28 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to be out Skhiri (knee) is set to miss Saturday's clash with Stuttgart, BILD reports.
Impact Skhiri is expected to miss Saturday's clash. The midfielder has been struggling with a knee injury and isn't set to be fit for Saturday's match. With Hugo Larsson (illness) also in doubt Mario Gotze and Mahmoud Dahoud could partner in midfield.
MARCH 27 • ROTOWIRE
Working individually Wednesday Skhiri (undisclosed) was training individually on Wednesday, the club announced.
Impact Skhiri was forced off injured during the match against Bochum before the international break and has not fully recovered, as he was spotted training individually on Wednesday. His timeline for return remains unclear. If he is unable to feature in Saturday's match against Stuttgart, Aurele Amenda, who replaced him against Bochum, could see increased playing time for that game.
MARCH 26 • ROTOWIRE
Forced off injured Skhiri (undisclosed) was forced off with an apparent injury during the second half of Sunday's clash with Bochum.
Impact Skhiri picked up the injury right before the end of Sunday's clash with Bochum. He will be assessed in the coming days and if it turns out to be serious, Can Uzun will likely have a larger role until he returns. His next chance to feature will come against Stuttgart after the international break.
MARCH 16 • ROTOWIRE
Suspension over Skhiri is no longer suspended and is an option moving forward for the club.
Impact Skhiri missed Sunday's 2-1 defeat against Union Berlin due to suspension but is now back available for Sunday's clash against Bochum. He should get back directly to the starting XI in the midfield for that game.
MARCH 10 • ROTOWIRE
Set for suspension Skhiri will serve a one-match ban due to an accumulation of five yellow cards.
Impact Skhiri accumulated five yellow cards in the Bundesliga and will be suspended for Sunday's match against Union Berlin. Oscar Hojlund is expected to replace him in the midfield for that game.
MARCH 3 • ROTOWIRE
Available for Sunday Skhiri (ribs) missed the last match due to injury and trained partially Wednesday but is fully fit and in contention to start, coach Dino Toppmoller said in a press conference.
Impact Skhiri completed a reduced training session Wednesday after missing the last match with a rib injury. He is now fully available and could return to the lineup Sunday against Bayern.
FEBRUARY 21 • ROTOWIRE
Reduced training following injury Skhiri (ribs) completed reduced training Wednesday, according to his club.
Impact Skhiri looks to be taking the first steps in his recovery from an injury, with the midfielder training on a limited regimen on Wednesday. This comes after he missed their last match due to a rib injury, as he is likely nearing a return after training. That said, he will still need to see regular training before thinking about playtime again, making him a late call for Sunday's match against Bayern Munich, although he will probably need another week.
FEBRUARY 19 • ROTOWIRE
Doubtful with rib injury Skhiri is doubtful for Sunday's match against Kiel due to a rib injury, according to manager DIno Toppmoller. "Ellyes took a blow to the ribs and is still doubtful."
Impact Skhiri will be a late call for the weekend, looking likely to miss out after being labeled as questionable with a rib injury. This will likely lead him to a fitness test ahead of the match, with that deciding if he can give it a go or not. That said, even if fit, he likely won't see his regular starting spot, with Mahmoud Dahoud or Can Uzun as replacements.
FEBRUARY 14 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles in draw Skhiri registered one shot (zero on goal) in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Monchengladbach.
Impact Skhiri failed to get much done throughout Saturday's draw. The midfielder has always been the less creative option in the center of the park, and for the most part he just does his defensive duty. Skhiri will be the less exciting option in the Frankfurt midfield in almost all matches going forward.
FEBRUARY 9 • ROTOWIRE
Provides assist Skhiri assisted once to go with zero corners and two chances created in Saturday's 7-2 win against Bochum.
Impact Skhiri assisted once, getting in on the scoring fun during the one-sided rout. The defensive midfielder isn't a major contributor to the attack, but when given the chance to bomb forward he can offer some creativity. Skhiri will maintain his starting role in all competitions moving forward as a major part of the starting XI.
NOVEMBER 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Single shot in win Skhiri recorded one shot (zero on goal) and two chances created in Saturday's 2-0 win against Monchengladbach.
Impact Skhiri was active in holding midfield, doing well to bomb forward and join the attack with a pair of chances created. The midfielder has done well alongside Hugo Larsson, and has set himself as one of the most important parts of the starting XI. Skhiri should continue to see major minutes moving forward.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Productive in Frankfurt Skhiri scored and assisted twice in 27 appearances (24 starts) in the Bundesliga.
Impact Skhiri joined Frankfurt and immediately took a stable role in the starting XI. The holding midfielder was at his best playing alongside fellow new signing Hugo Larsson. Injuries kept the two apart for portions of the season, but still it was a solid campaign from Skhiri. He has limited offensive upside in Frankfurt since he no longer takes penalties.
MAY 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Assists late insurance goal Skhiri had an assist with his lone chance created while making one tackle and two clearances during Friday's 3-1 win over Augsburg.
Impact Skhiri set up Omar Marmoush in the 95th minute assisting a late insurance goal to guarantee all three points for Frankfurt. The assist was Skhiri's first goal involvement since November as he's made six tackles, five interceptions and four clearances in his last three Bundesliga appearances.
APRIL 19, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Back after two match absence Skhiri (calf) is staring for Frankfurt during Friday's match against Augsburg.
Impact Skhiri returns from a calf injury which has kept him out of Frankfurt's last two matches. The midfielder is a regular starter when fit as a defensive minded option in midfield.
