Diego Chara - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

Starts again Chara had one shot (zero on goal) in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Atlanta United. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 25th minute.

Impact Chara was back in the starting XI, his second straight start since a few matches off the bench following an injury. He would fail to do much in the match, continuing a rough season. That said, he has yet to earn a goal contribution in 20 appearances (11 starts) this season.

On bench versus Minnesota Chara (hip) is among the substitutes for Saturday's contest versus Minnesota United.

Impact Chara has returned to the match squad after being sidelined since Aug. 20 and has a chance to reappear in the holding midfield rotation alongside Cole Bassett and Jose Caicedo. This is good news for the Timbers' depth, although the veteran lacks significant upside, with his value usually coming from accurate passes and a few ball recovery actions.

The veteran serves mostly as a defensive presence in midfield, a role that may be directly covered by Jose Caicedo in his absence. Prior to the problem, Chara had tallied 511 passes, 33 tackles (12 won and 15 clearances over 910 minutes of league play this year.

Starts to face Seattle Chara (undisclosed) is in the starting XI for Thursday's match against Seattle.

Impact Chara is back from injury following the World Cup break, as the midfielder earns a spot in the starting XI following his undisclosed injury. This will give the club a bit more depth in the midfield moving forward. With that said, there is a solid chance he returns to more of a rotational role, as Jose Caicedo has healed from his injury and is on the bench to face Seattle, likely to begin earning the starting role again soon.

Doubt for Saturday Chara could miss the upcoming game against San Jose after manager Phil Neville named him as a "major doubt for Saturday", Adam Susman of The Timber Review reports.

Impact Chara is likely dealing with an injury, joining Jose Caicedo (thigh) among the Timbers' midfield concerns. The 40-year-old made his first start in two months last weekend against Inter Miami, but he recorded 45 minutes of play. If both Chara and Caicedo continue to struggle with fitness issues, Joao Ortiz could find a rare chance to partner Cole Bassett in the central zone.

Should be back Saturday Chara (lower body) is expected to be an option for coach Phil Neville in the upcoming clash with Houston, Adam Susman of The Timber Review reports.

Impact Chara missed only one game after starting twice in defensive midfield at the beginning of the season, so he should have a decent chance to regain a significant role. In that case, he'll take either Joao Ortiz's or Eric Izoita's place in the lineup. Despite lacking offensive potential, Chara could be reliable for his averages of 53.0 accurate passes and 3.5 tackles per game.
