First goal of season in victory
Steres scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Sunday's 1-0 victory against Inter Miami CF.
Impact
Steres put in an outstanding performance on Saturday and demonstrated that creative defenders can also contribute to the scoreline. His goal was a well-taken strike in the box from a Corey Baird knock-down. From six appearances (all starts) he has produced four clean sheets and this was his first goal.

Takes two shots in win
Steres took two shots and made two clearances in Saturday's 1-0 victory against NYCFC. He also had a block in the match.

Keeps clean sheet in season debut
Steres made a block, a clearance and an interception in Saturday's 2-0 victory against Austin FC.
Impact
Steres lined up at right-back Saturday in what was his first start of the season, and he helped keep a clean sheet against Texas rivals Austin. Steres has begun the campaign as the backup option to Teenage Hadebe and Ethan Bartlow in central defense, and is unlikely to be a regular in the right-back position either.

Impact
Steres missed the final month of last season with an arm injury, but he was back on the pitch last weekend and should be available to begin the 2023 campaign against Cincinnati on Saturday, where he is expected to take over from the departed Tim Parker as the starting center-back alongside Teenage Hadebe.

Extends contract with Houston
Steres has signed a two-year contract extension with the Dynamo with the option for a further season, the club announced Thursday.
Impact
Steres scored two goals, recorded an assist and kept a clean sheet in 18 MLS appearances (14 starts) during his first season in Houston, serving as the primary backup for Tim Parker and Teenage Hadebe in central defense despite missing more than a month due injuries on two separate occasions, in April and September. The 31-year-old has now signed on with the Dynamo through the 2024 campaign at least.

Scores goal against Montreal
Steres scored a goal and made seven clearances in Saturday's 3-2 defeat against CF Montreal. He also made an interception in the match.
Impact
Steres got on the end of a Memo Rodriguez cross and scored his first MLS goal in almost two full years. He's been the third-choice center-back since arriving in Houston ahead of this season, but a recent injury to Teenage Hadebe (leg) has put Steres in the starting lineup for three games in a row.

Records assist in win
Steres assisted a goal and won two of three tackles in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Colorado. He also made eight clearances, four blocks and four clearances in the match.
Impact
Steres was immense for his side in his return from a hamstring injury on Saturday, setting up Samuel Grandsir's late equalizer with a through ball, but also racking up defensive actions throughout the match. He will want to have a similar impact Wednesday against the Dynamo, which have scored 27 goals in 24 matches this season.

Timeline remains unclear
Steres continues to deal with a hamstring injury and doesn't have a timeline to return, according to head coach Greg Vanney.
Impact
Steres suffered the injury June 20 and it doesn't look like he'll be returning soon. He was a constant on the back line prior to injury, but fortunately for the Galaxy, Nick DePuy has filled in when needed and he's gotten plenty of experience throughout the early season.

Out against Vancouver
Steres (hamstring) is not on the squad for Wednesday's game against Vancouver.
Impact
As expected, Steres is out of the squad for Wednesday's match and it remains to be seen when he'll be back, though hamstring injuries usually take a while to recover. His next chance to play will come this weekend against the Earthquakes.

Leaves with hamstring isssue
Steres was replaced by Nick DePuy in the eighth minute of Saturday's 2-1 loss to Seattle due to a hamstring injury, according to Damian Calhoun of the Daily Breeze.
Impact
Steres is usually a fixture in the back line for the Galaxy but could miss at least 10 days with a minor muscular injury. Nick DePuy should return to the lineup for the second time in three matches if Steres is out for Wednesday's game against Vancouver.

Assists in shutout win
Steres tallied one assist, held a clean sheet and hauled in two interceptions, three blocked shots and two clearances in Saturday's 2-0 win over Austin FC.
Impact
Steres held his first assist and clean sheet of the campaign winning fourth in five matches. The center-back hasn't really been much of an offensive feature and mostly brings steady numbers in defensive peripheral stats.
