Sergio Oregel - Works with team after absence
Oregel (head) returned to practice after being inactive Wednesday against D.C. United, Joe Chatz of On Tap Sports reports.
Impact
Oregel is apparently close to making his return from the injury, although he has seen limited action throughout the season and might not be one of the preferred options in the contention with Anton Saletros (head), Mauricio Pineda and, once he's back from suspension, Dje D'Avilla. Oregel recorded one scoring chance created and two tackles across his previous three appearances off the bench in the 2026 MLS campaign.

Anton Saletros - Resumes training
Saletros (head) took part in Thursday's training session after missing the previous game due to injury, Joe Chatz of On Tap Sports reports.
Impact
Saletros was a regular starter and set-piece taker before his injury, so he should return to a major role if he's available for upcoming matches. His inclusion would be a defensive midfield boost for the team, and he could produce though crosses and tackles as he did in his most recent performances. He would be expected to replace the suspended Dje D'Avilla in the starting lineup for the next game, after which Mauricio Pineda may be the one to lose his spot.

Philip Zinckernagel - Sets up equalizer
Zinckernagel assisted once to go with six shots (three on goal), 11 crosses (three accurate) and eight corners in Wednesday's 3-1 victory against D.C. United.
Impact
Zinckernagel had a very eventful game. He set up Robin Lod's header equalizer in the 62nd minute, missed a penalty in the 71st minute, and took a free kick in the 87th minute that was parried but converted on the rebound by Maren Haile-Selassie. Additionally, Zinckernagel recorded the most crosses in the game, created two chances and made a tackle, a block and an interception. He has now contributed to seven goals in the last five games and has eight goal contributions for the campaign.

Maren Haile-Selassie - Nets on Wednesday as substitute
Haile-Selassie scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one chance created in Wednesday's 3-1 win over D.C. United.
Impact
Haile-Selassie came on in the 63rd minute and capitalized on the keeper's parry of Philip Zinckernagel's powerful free kick in the 87th minute, skillfully netting the ball. Haile-Selassie has now contributed three goals across the last four games.

Robin Lod - Nets equalizer on Wednesday
Lod scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one chance created in Wednesday's 3-1 victory against D.C. United.
Impact
Lod headed in the equalizer, assisted by Philip Zinckernagel's brilliant cross in the 62nd minute. Lod recorded six passes and also made a tackle. This was his first goal since March, and he has only scored twice this campaign.

Hugo Cuypers - Nets on Wednesday
Cuypers scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Wednesday's 3-1 win versus D.C. United.
Impact
Cuypers converted from extremely close range following the chaos after Philip Zinckernagel's penalty miss. Cuypers recorded 10 passes and also made three clearances, one block, and one tackle. In incredible form, he has scored in all nine of his appearances this campaign, totaling 12 goals-the highest in the league.

Chris Brady - Concedes one
Brady had five saves and allowed one goal in Wednesday's 3-1 victory versus D.C. United.
Impact
Brady recorded two clearances and conceded only just before halftime. Over the last five games, he has made 14 saves and seven clearances, conceding 10 goals during that period. Next, he will face CF Montreal, who have scored six times in their last four games.

Cuypers scores MLS-leading 12th goal, Fire wins 3-1 to snap DC United's 5-game unbeaten streak
Hugo Cuypers scored his MLS-leading 12th goal this season, Robin Lod and Maren Haile-Selassie each added a goal, and the Chicago Fire beat D.C. United 3-1

Dje D'avilla - Suspended one game
D'Avilla will serve a one-match ban due to an accumulation of five yellow cards in the MLS.
Impact
D'Avilla picked up his fifth yellow card in the MLS and will serve a one-match suspension for Saturday's clash against Montreal. The midfielder has been an undisputed starter in the engine room for Chicago this season, therefore his absence will force a change in the starting XI, with Mauricio Pineda expected to start in his place for that game.

Robin Lod - Back in starting XI midweek
Lod (face) is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's visit to D.C. United.
Impact
Lod is ready to play following a one-game absence, and he'll replace Maren Haile-Selassie in an attacking midfield slot in the initial lineup. The 33-year-old is still looking to end an eight-game unproductive streak in terms of goals or assists in league play, but he could be a decent threat for a Chicago side that scored multiple goals in three of its last four MLS matches.

Anton Saletros - Doubt due to head issue
Saletros' status is uncertain ahead of Wednesday's match against D.C. United as he deals with a head injury, the MLS reported Tuesday.
Impact
Saletros is a major presence in Chicago's lineup, as he has been one of their more dependable options in the center of the park, contributing in both possession and pressing, so his head concern alongside Sergio Oregel (head) gives the Fire two uncertain players in the same match day. If Saletros can play, Chicago's midfield retains a composed and experienced option it genuinely needs. Otherwise, Mauricio Pineda might get a rare opportunity.

Sergio Oregel - Questionable with head concern
Oregel (head) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's match against D.C. United, per the MLS Player Status Report.
Impact
Oregel is a young player working into Chicago's rotation and his head concern is one of two such designations in the Fire's week 13 report. Head issues require formal return-to-play clearance, making a questionable designation a situation the club may manage conservatively. Until his final status is confirmed, Dje D'Avilla and perhaps Mauricio Pineda will look to gain increased playing time.

Robin Lod - Training with mask
Lod (face) is back in training, wearing a mask, according to Joe Chatz of On Tap Sports.
Impact
Lod missed out last week after he suffered a facial fracture that required some stiches but is already in training again, as the attacker wore a mask to participate. This does put a return on the horizon for him, although he will have to get comfortable wearing the mask. He has started in seven of his 10 appearances this season while bagging a goal, but his play could be hindered due to the mask, something that has affected players in the past.

Puso Dithejane - Two shots off bench
Dithejane generated two shots (one on goal), two crosses (zero accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-1 defeat to New York Red Bulls.
Impact
Dithejane subbed onto the pitch in the 61st minute Saturday, replacing Jonathan Bamba. He had a solid outing as he put his first shot on target this season and also created one chance. While he is not set to get many starts this season it will be interesting to see what the young forward will be able to contribute in limited minutes.

Philip Zinckernagel - Nine crosses Saturday
Zinckernagel generated three shots (one on goal), nine crosses (three accurate) and four corners in Saturday's 3-1 defeat against New York Red Bulls.
Impact
Zinckernagel had another highly productive outing Saturday, although this one ended without a goal contribution. He recorded nine crosses in his third consecutive match and also created four chances for just the second time this season. Over his last six outings he has four goals, three assists, 28 shots (10 on target), 17 chances created and 39 crosses (10 accurate). With Hugo Cuypers also on an eight-match scoring streak, there's a lot of attacking prowess in Chicago at the moment.

Hugo Cuypers - Keeps scoring streak alive
Cuypers scored one goal to go with three shots (two on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-1 defeat versus New York Red Bulls.
Impact
Cuypers scored a consolation goal in the 87th minute Saturday, a strike which cut the deficit to 3-1 with little time left. The goal meant more for him than it did his team as it extended his streak to eight consecutive matches with a goal. It's been a remarkable start to the season for Cuypers, one that he'll hope to extend Wednesday at D.C. United.

Chris Brady - Concedes three to Red Bulls
Brady recorded one save and allowed three goals in Saturday's 3-1 loss against New York Red Bulls.
Impact
Brady conceded three goals in his second consecutive match Saturday, also making just one save. He is also doubly to blame for the third goal, as he committed the foul that led to the penalty decision, then conceded the penalty to Eric Choupo-Moting in the 81st minute. He'll look to bounce back Wednesday at D.C. United, a side which has scored 15 goals through 12 matches this season.

Chris Mueller - Available to return
Mueller (lower body) "is back, he's in contention to be in the squad", manager Gregg Berhalter said Thursday.
Impact
Mueller should make his first appearance since March 7 after spending seven league games on the sidelines, although his return is likely to be in a substitute role given his lack of form. With striker Hugo Cuypers carrying impressive momentum, Mueller has little chances of being used in that position as he did earlier this year, so he'll possibly challenge Philip Zinckernagel and Jonathan Bamba on the flanks, looking to produce some crosses and scoring chances.
