Logs double-digit clearances in win Lukeba made one tackle, 11 clearances and 11 interception while helping his side to keep a clean sheet during Saturday's 3-0 win over Wolfsburg.

Impact Lukeba had arguably his best performance of the campaign, racking up double-digit clearances for the first time while imposing his will against forwards. The center-back had more clearances than on his previous five starts combined, so this was a huge bounceback game for him and he'll hope to keep it up during this final stretch of the season.

Impact Lukeba returns from a back injury which forced him off early in Leipzig's final match before the winter break. The defender had started three of Leipzig's last four matches in all competitions but settles for a substitutes role Saturday.

Impact Lukeba was forced off at halftime against Werder Bremen on Dec. 19 but appears to be in the mix to rejoin the squad when the Bundesliga resumes Jan. 13 against Eintracht Frankfurt. Once given the all-clear, the central defender should be in the mix to reclaim his spot in the starting XI where he figures to rack up plenty of defensive stats but will offer limited offensive upside.

Impact Lukeba came off with the back problem against Bremen and it appears the winter break wasn't enough time for him to recover. The defender is expected to get back on the pitch for a Jan. 13 clash with Frankfurt, assuming no setbacks. With Will Orban (knee) still not in team training, Lukeba should continue in the starting XI if fit.

Busy defensively in UCL win Lukeba had one shot on goal and made five tackles (two won), three clearances and one interception during Wednesday's 3-1 Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade.

Impact Lukeba had one of his best stat lines of the season so far as he prevailed over opposing forwards most of the time and even came close from scoring in the first half as he had a powerful header miraculously saved by the goalkeeper. With at least three clearances in four of his last five starts, the center-backs looks to be locked up as a starter for the foreseeable future.

Joins RB Leipzig Lukeba has departed Lyon to join RB Leipzig, his former club announced Friday.

Impact Lukeba was a regular presence at the back for Lyon during the 2022-23 Ligue 1 campaign, racking up 34 appearances (33 starts) and chipping in with two goals. He should step into the starting lineup at Leipzig as the natural replacement for Josko Gvardiol, who left the club to join Manchester City in the English Premier League.
