Benoit Badiashile - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

Diagnosed with thigh injury Badiashile suffered a medium-grade right rectus femoris strain versus Roma, Napoli announced.

Impact Badiashile is dealing with a significant muscular problem that could sideline him for six to eight weeks. He has started in three of the last four matches, but Napoli could switch back to a scheme featuring fewer defenders, with Amir Rrahmani and Rafa Marin at the top of the pecking order, backed up by Sam Beukema and Luca Marianucci.

Forced off with apparent injury Badiashile was forced off with an apparent injury in the 51st minute of Saturday's Serie A match against Roma and was replaced by Sam Beukema.

Impact Badiashile was forced off with an apparent injury early in the second half against Roma, which is a setback just as he was starting to get regular minutes. He will be assessed, and the extent of the problem should become clearer once Napoli have examined him. The centre-back had been coping well alongside Rafa Marin in a back line already without Amir Rrahmani, who missed the match with a flu-like illness.

Clean sheet in full debut Badiashile had one cross (one accurate) and one tackle in Saturday's 3-0 win versus Frosinone. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 85th minute.

Impact Badiashile made his first start for Napoli against Frosinone and marked it with his first clean sheet for the club. Coach Massimiliano Allegri had weighed a switch to a back three during the international break to arrest a disappointing start to the season, and the French defender slotted into the new shape with one tackle won and one interception. He needed time to reach full fitness after joining on loan from Chelsea, and this was a solid first step after Allegri praised the strides he had made.

Subs in poorly in Inter game Badiashile (conditioning) had seven passes and one clearance in 10 minutes in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Inter.

Impact Badiashile had a forgettable debut with Napoli after struggling to get into shape following his transfer from Chelsea. His team conceded twice during his short time on the pitch, and he was a step slow on both goals. His first short showing is unlikely to help him earn more minutes soon, even though Napoli are currently one defender short sans Alessandro Buongiorno (knee).

Available for Inter clash Badiashile (conditioning) "will be an option Saturday," coach Massimiliano Allegri stated.

Impact Badiashile was given some time to work on his fitness after a late move last week, but he's good to go for this one and will join Rafa Marin and Sam Beukema among the options to replace Alessandro Buongiorno (knee) and team up with Amir Rrahmani defensively.

Absent for Como match Badiashile (conditioning) hasn't been called up for Sunday's clash with Como.

Impact Badiashile isn't yet in good enough shape to play yet after joining the team recently and will be re-assessed next week. Rafa Marin (undisclosed) could get another start next to Amir Rrahmani over Sam Beukema in the back.

AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE

Dealt to Napoli Badiashile is headed to Napoli on loan with an option to buy from Chelsea.

Impact Badiashile has had trouble staying healthy and was facing significant competition in recent campaigns at Chelsea and featured just 14 times in the most recent one, posting tackles, 17 interceptions and 32 clearnces in 12 appeances, with one clean sheet. He could get some action early at Napoli while Alessandro Buongiorno (knee) is on the shelf.

Option again after illness Badiashile trained fully with the squad Thursday and is back available for Saturday's clash against Everton, the club posted.

Impact Badiashile returned to full team training Thursday and was seen taking part in Robert Sanchez's 100-game celebration, putting him back in the mix for Saturday's showdown against Everton after shaking off his recent illness. Impact Badiashile missed Tuesday's Champions League showdown against Paris Saint-Germain after being ruled out with illness. The center-back will aim to bounce back in time for Saturday's matchup against Everton, though his absence doesn't shake things up much given his limited role lately. His last Premier League start came against West Ham on Jan. 31, and he's logged just 120 minutes since then, all coming in the FA Cup clash against Wrexham.
