Lars Eller - Nabs helper Tuesday Eller recorded an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Oilers.

Impact Eller had a shot attempt ping off the post but straight to Pierre-Luc Dubois, who made no mistake on the second attempt. The helper ended Eller's four-game slump. The 35-year-old center has struggled to put up consistent offense, but that's not unusual for a depth player who tends to focus more on defense. Overall, Eller has 16 points, 58 shots on net, 37 hits and a minus-4 rating over 45 contests between the Capitals and the Penguins this season.

Impact McMichael helped out on Matt Roy's second-period go-ahead goal. While he hasn't scored in eight contests, McMichael has warmed up again with three assists over his last two games. Tom Wilson - Reaches 20-goal mark Tuesday Wilson scored a goal, added two hits and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Oilers.

Impact Wilson reached the 20-goal mark for the fourth time in his career, and his personal best of 24 tallies is definitely within range. He's done well in January with six goals and two assists over 10 appearances. The winger is up to 35 points -- matching his total from the 2023-24 regular season -- while adding 108 shots on net, 137 hits, 43 blocked shots, 44 PIM and a plus-11 rating through 47 appearances.

Impact Thompson picked up his fifth straight win despite the Oilers getting the better of the Capitals on the shot counter by a 32-14 margin. He also earned an assist on the game-winning goal, and the 27-year-old goalie was able to stay calm after Corey Perry scored the Oilers' second goal following a fan tossing nachos onto the ice. During Thompson's winning streak, he's allowed a total of five goals on 127 shots, and he's gone 10-0-1 over his last 11 outings. Overall, he's now at a 22-2-3 record with a 2.09 GAA and a .925 save percentage through 27 appearances. Thompson has started consecutive games even with Charlie Lindgren back from an upper-body injury, so it's unclear if the Capitals will go back to alternating starts or let Thompson get a bit of a run as the starter.
