It's been a long journey for goaltender Tomáš Suchánek, who tore his ACL a little under a year ago during a summer workout.

Gets time at development camp
Suchanek (knee) was on the ice for the Ducks' development camp and is expected to be ready for the 2025-26 season, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.
Impact
Suchanek sustained a torn ACL and was ruled out for 6-8 months just before camp last season. The 22-year-old resumed skating in April and participated in development camp this past week and should begin 2025-26 with AHL San Diego. If he can get up to speed quickly, he could be an option to make his NHL debut this year if one of Lukas Dostal or Petr Mrazek is unavailable for any reason.

Undergoes knee surgery
Suchanek underwent surgery for a ruptured ACL and is expected to need 6-8 months to recover, the team announced Thursday.
Impact
Suchanek had a 2.92 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 29 contests with AHL San Diego in 2023-24. The 21-year-old was unlikely to play for the Ducks this season, but this injury will impact the franchise's organizational depth. Given the timetable, a best-case scenario would involve Suchanek returning before the end of the campaign.
