The Mammoth are averaging 3.11 goals per game in 2025-26, 17th in the NHL.

Busy in shootout loss Tuesday
Skinner turned aside 39 shots in regulation and overtime and one of three shootout attempts in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to Carolina.
Impact
The Penguins needed two late goals in the third period just to force OT as they got out-shot 43-28 on the night, but their luck ran out in the shootout. Skinner is winless over his last five starts, going 0-1-4 with a 3.08 GAA and .881 save percentage as he remains stuck on 19 wins for the season.

Between pipes against Canes
Skinner will tend the twine on the road versus Carolina on Tuesday, Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site reports.
Impact
Skinner and fellow backstop Arturs Silovs have been splitting the workload for much of the season, a trend fantasy managers can expect will likely continue down the stretch. The 27-year-old Skinner is currently mired in a four-game losing streak, having gone 0-1-3 with a 2.90 GAA over that stretch. He'll face an uphill battle trying to secure his 20th win of the year with both Sidney Crosby (lower body) and Evgeni Malkin (suspension) unavailable.

Four-game losing streak
Skinner made 12 saves Saturday in a 4-3 shootout loss to Philadelphia.
Impact
Skinner is 0-1-3 in his last four starts; he has allowed 12 goals in that span (0.857). Prior to that Skinner won eight of his previous nine games. He has a 2.63 GAA with Pittsburgh this season, which is about as strong as he's had at any point in his career. But Skinner's .889 save percentage in black and gold is his worst result, other than in the single game he played in 2020-21.

Facing Flyers
Skinner will protect the home net against Philadelphia on Saturday, according to Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site.
Impact
Skinner has gone 0-1-2 in his last three outings while allowing nine goals on 76 shots. Since being acquired from Edmonton on Dec. 12, he has posted a record of 8-5-2 with a 2.62 GAA and an .893 save percentage in 15 appearances for Pittsburgh. Philadelphia ranks 25th in the league with 2.80 goals per game this season.

Better in black and gold
Skinner made 26 saves in a 2-1 loss to Boston on Tuesday.
Impact
Skinner was strong, aside from the two goals he allowed in a 50 second span in the first period. Skinner went into the break with a 4-0-1 record, but he's 0-1-1 in two games since the return. Skinner has been a better netminder in Boston's system than he was in Edmonton's run-and-gun.

Exits ice first Tuesday
Skinner was the first goalie to leave the ice Tuesday, Dan Potash of Sportsnet Pittsburgh reports, indicating he'll tend the twine on the road against Boston.
Impact
Skinner is undefeated in regulation over his last seven outings, posting a 5-0-2 record to go with a 2.96 GAA. Despite his solid numbers, the 27-year-old netminder could still find himself relegated to the No. 2 role due to Arturs Silovs' three-game winning streak that includes a shutout win his last time out. For now, the duo seems likely to continue to split the workload, featuring in every other contest.

No regulation loss since early Jan.
Skinner made 23 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
Impact
Skinner hasn't lost in regulation since Jan. 11; he's now 5-0-2 in his last seven starts. And he's 8-1-2 since Christmas. Skinner allowed 12 goals in his first three games in Pittsburgh. But since then, he has allowed two or fewer goals in seven of 11 games. Skinner's .890 save percentage and 2.66 GAA in black and gold are mid, at best, but that GAA is among the best of his career. And that includes his 36-16-5 season in 2023-24 when he registered a 2.62 GAA and .905 save percentage. Pennsylvania seems to suit him.

Facing Rangers
Skinner will defend the visiting goal against the Rangers on Saturday, Josh Yohe of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Skinner is 19-12-5 with a pair of shutouts in 36 starts for Pittsburgh and Edmonton this season. One of his two shutouts were against the Rangers on Oct. 14, stopping 30 shots while a member of the Oilers. The Rangers are tied for 27th in scoring, averaging 2.60 goals per game.

Surrenders five goals
Skinner stopped 18 of 23 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Islanders.
Impact
Skinner's five-game winning streak came to a crashing halt with this performance. This is the second outing in a row that he's given up five goals, so the upcoming Olympic break should provide a beneficial reset for the 27-year-old netminder. He's now at a 19-12-5 record with a 2.79 GAA and an .890 save percentage over 36 starts. The Penguins have been alternating goalies lately, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Arturs Silovs get the nod versus the Sabres on Thursday.
