The 27-year-old Skinner is currently mired in a four-game losing streak, having gone 0-1-3 with a 2.90 GAA over that stretch. He'll face an uphill battle trying to secure his 20th win of the year with both Sidney Crosby (lower body) and Evgeni Malkin (suspension) unavailable.

Despite his solid numbers, the 27-year-old netminder could still find himself relegated to the No. 2 role due to Arturs Silovs' three-game winning streak that includes a shutout win his last time out. But since then, he has allowed two or fewer goals in seven of 11 games. Skinner's .890 save percentage and 2.66 GAA in black and gold are mid, at best, but that GAA is among the best of his career. And that includes his 36-16-5 season in 2023-24 when he registered a 2.62 GAA and .905 save percentage. Pennsylvania seems to suit him.
