First goalie off Tuesday
Skinner was the first goalie to leave the ice Tuesday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports, indicating he'll be between the pipes on the road against the Blues.
Impact
Skinner is set to take the regular-season finale, which figures to be a nice tune-up for the veteran netminder before he heads into the playoffs as Pittsburgh's No. 1 option in the crease. Since being acquired by the team via trade this season, the Edmonton native has gone 12-9-5 with a 2.91 GAA and .887 save percentage in 26 contests.

Yields two goals in loss
Skinner stopped 23 of 25 shots on net in Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Capitals.
Impact
Skinner was left on an island Sunday, as the Penguins' offense came up empty while he allowed just one goal inside the first 55 minutes of the contest. With the loss, he now holds a 23-17-9 record, an .889 save percentage and a 2.87 GAA across 49 outings this season. He's alternated wins and losses over his last seven outings, making him a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option ahead of Pittsburgh's final game of the regular season. If he is called upon to start over Arturs Silovs, Skinner will have his work cut out for him against the hot Blues' offense.

Impact
Skinner will get the second half of Pittsburgh's back-to-back after Arturs Silovs played in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Capitals. The 27-year-old Skinner is coming off a 19-save performance in Thursday's 5-2 win over New Jersey. Washington ranks 14th in the league with 3.20 goals per game this season.

Snags win over Devils
Skinner made 19 saves in Thursday's 5-2 win over New Jersey.
Impact
The Penguins never trailed in the game as they clinched a playoff spot. Skinner has been inconsistent at best since the Olympic break while working in a timeshare with the Arturs Silovs, and he's running out of time to make a clear case to be the team's No. 1 in the postseason. Over his last 12 outings, Skinner has gone 4-4-4 with a 3.18 GAA and .885 save percentage.

Improving from injury
Skinner (eye) said Tuesday that he feels good and his vision has improved, according to Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports.
Impact
Skinner was struck near his eye by a puck while sitting on the bench during Saturday's game against Florida, per DK Pittsburgh Sports. Skinner's status for Thursday's game in New Jersey has yet to be determined, but if he's unavailable, Arturs Silovs will more than likely get the start, while Sergei Murashov would be the backup in that scenario.

Dug in to give team chance
Skinner made 27 saves in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Lightning. He allowed five goals.
Impact
The Bolts were all over the Pens, so Skinner had be especially sharp to keep his mates as close as they were. He continues to scuffle since the Olympic break. Skinner is 3-4-4 in 11 starts since the Olympic break. He has allowed four or more goals in five games in that span. Skinner is hard to trust -- his skills haven't translated in black and gold.

Impact
Skinner is coming off a strong start at home against the Red Wings on Tuesday in which he turned aside 22 of 23 shots (.957 save percentage) in a 5-1 victory. However, he's been inconsistent over the past few weeks, going 2-2-1 with a 3.54 GAA and .876 save percentage. The Lightning rank second in the NHL with 3.57 goals per game.

Strong showing vs. Detroit
Skinner stopped 22 of 23 shots in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Impact
Skinner was beaten in the second period when Dylan Larkin scored a wrister on the power play during the second period, but that would be all the offense the Red Wings would muster. Skinner has alternated wins and losses over his last four starts, going 2-2-0 with a 2.99 GAA and an .881 save percentage in that stretch dating back to March 22. Even though that record isn't impressive, this is a clear step in the right direction.
