Secures three-year deal Benoit inked a three-year, $4.05 million contract with Toronto on Friday.

Impact Benoit has logged 54 games for the Leafs this season in which he has notched one goal on 48 shots and four assists while averaging 16:55 of ice time. While the 25-year-old blueliner won't offer much in the way of offensive upside, he does have value in formats that utilize hits and blocks, as he has racked up 204 and 82, respectively.

Impact The game got chippy in the third period as the Maple Leafs pulled away, and Benoit earned his keep with a dominant physical performance. The 25-year-old blueliner hasn't produced a point in his last nine games, but he's piled up 37 hits, 15 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over that stretch, including three separate games with six-plus. Impact Benoit was slotted into the third pairing for Toronto and could get into the lineup against Florida on Tuesday. If Benoit does suit up, it will likely mean William Lagesson will be relegated to a reserve role. For his part, Benoit is averaging 13:13 of ice time in his six NHL games this season, registering five shots, 13 hits and 10 blocks along the way.
