Impact Tarasov will start the Blue Jackets' preseason finale. He's had poor results this preseason, allowing six goals on 43 shots over his previous two starts. As such, Tarasov is likely to begin the year as the backup to Elvis Merzlikins.

Boone Jenner - Dealing with upper-body injury Jenner sustained an upper-body injury during Friday's practice, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Impact Jenner lost an edge during practice and slammed into the wall, and he left the ice shortly after. He wasn't on the roster for Friday's preseason finale against the Penguins, but the team hasn't yet provided an update on his status with less than a week remaining until Opening Night against the Wild on Thursday. Jenner's potential absence would leave the Blue Jackets particularly shorthanded after Dmitri Voronkov (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Friday.

Dmitri Voronkov - On injured reserve Voronkov (upper body) was placed on injured reserve by Columbus on Friday, per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.

Impact Voronkov will miss a considerable amount of time, according to Portzline's sources, but there's no official timetable for the 24-year-old forward's return. He had 18 goals, 34 points, 52 PIM and 83 hits in 75 contests with the Blue Jackets in 2023-24. When healthy, Voronkov will likely serve in a middle-six capacity. His absence might lead to James Malatesta, who was projected to begin the season in the minors, play for Columbus in its Opening Night against Minnesota on Thursday.

Erik Gudbranson - Resumes skating Friday Gudbranson (lower body) skated with the non-game group during Friday's practice, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

Impact Gudbranson won't play in Friday's preseason game against Pittsburgh, but it's encouraging that he was on the ice Friday morning. He'll have several days to rest before Opening Night against the Wild on Thursday, and it seems as though he'll be in the mix to play against Minnesota.

Sam Poulin - Waived Friday Poulin landed on the waiver wire Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Impact Poulin has underwhelmed since being selected 21st overall in the 2019 NHL Draft, managing just six NHL games with the Penguins. He has shown some offensive upside in the minors, garnering 31 points in 41 games last year, so he could be viewed as a reclamation project in some circles. If he clears, he'll head back to the minors, where he figures to play the bulk of his games this year.
