Casey DeSmith - Stops 41 in OT victory DeSmith stopped 41 of 42 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Avalanche.
Impact DeSmith was superb Tuesday, allowing just a Nathan MacKinnon goal in the first period before the Penguins would rally to win in overtime. DeSmith has started Pittsburgh's last four contests with Tristan Jarry (upper body) sidelined, going 2-1-1 in that span with a .911 save percentage. The 31-year-old DeSmith will look to build on Tuesday's performance as he improves to 8-10-4 with a .905 save percentage and a 3.23 GAA this season.

Impact Letang was all over the stat sheet Tuesday, logging five shots and seven hits before capping the night with a game-winning goal in overtime. The 35-year-old blueliner has five points (three goals, two assists) in four games since his return from an 11-game absence. Letang now has five goals and 16 assists through 32 games this season.

Impact Previously deemed a game-time call, Archibald was deemed available by coach Mike Sullivan following Tuesday's game-day skate. It will be Arhcibald's first game back in the lineup since Dec. 18 versus the Hurricanes, a stretch of 18 outings on the shelf. The 30-year-old Archibald figures to slot back into a bottom-six role where he will be looking to end a 10-game pointless streak.

Impact Jarry has played in just two of the Pens' last 12 games due to various injuries and will miss his fourth consecutive contest due to his most recent upper-body issue. Once cleared to play, Jarry should immediately reclaim his spot as the starter in Pittsburgh. If he remains unavailable heading into a back-to-back against the Ducks and Kings on Friday and Saturday, respectively, then Casey DeSmith figures to split the games with Dustin Tokarski.

Impact Jarry, who is listed as day-to-day, has been making progress in his recovery and this is likely a technical move that will allow the team to activate both Josh Archibald (lower body) and Kasperi Kapanen (lower body) off injured reserve ahead of Tuesday's clash with Colorado. For his part, Jarry has been out of action since Jan. 22 against New Jersey. Casey DeSmith will probably continue to see the bulk of the starts until Jarry returns.

Impact Considering DeSmith has conceded five or more goals in three of his last four contests, a matchup with the high-powered Avs offense may not be the best way to get back on track. With Tristan Jarry (upper body) still working his way back from injury, DeSmith will likely remain the preferred choice in the crease, though Dustin Tokarski could also be an option.
