Dustin Tokarski - Solid but beaten four times Tokarski stopped 38-of-42 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Devils on Saturday.
Impact Tokarski was mostly sharp through the game, but the Devils came in waves. Dawson Mercer and Jesper Bratt beat him at even strength, Dougie Hamilton put in a power-play marker and Nico Hischier knifed in a shortie. Tokarski has a .896 save percentage this season and just isn't a trustworthy fantasy option. Tick will remain with the Pens until either Tristan Jarry (lower body) returns or the Pens trade for a goalie.

Evgeni Malkin - Hits 20-goal mark for 14th time Malkin scored twice Saturday in a 5-2 loss to New Jersey.
Impact Malkin reached the 20-goal plateau early in the first on the power play. It's the 14th season he has hit that mark. At 36, Malkin continues to deliver star-quality production. He has 21 goals and 35 assists (56 points) in 55 games this season. Almost half (25) of his points have come with the man advantage.

Sidney Crosby - Two-point effort in loss Crosby scored a goal and an assist in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders.
Impact He opened the scoring midway through the first period and set up Rickard Rakell late in the second to give the Penguins a 4-2 lead, but the Pittsburgh offense went cold in the third. Crosby is on a heater even by his lofty standards, finding the scoresheet in 11 of the last 12 games with five multi-point performances and piling up four goals and 19 points over that stretch.

Casey DeSmith - Fades late against Isles DeSmith stopped 23 shots in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders.
Impact The Penguins took a 4-2 lead with just over a minute left in the second period, but DeSmith watched it slip away down the stretch on two deflected pucks and a Brock Nelson power-play tally. The 31-year-old netminder has started eight straight games with Tristan Jarry (upper body) on the shelf, going 4-3-1 with a 3.46 GAA and .904 save percentage, but with Jarry poised to return soon, DeSmith should return to backup duties.

Pierre-Olivier Joseph - Two helpers against Isles Joseph notched two assists in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders.
Impact The 23-year-old blueliner has two multi-point performances in the last four games, racking up two goals and five points in those contests, but those are his only points since Jan. 8. With Kris Letang and Jeff Petry both back in the lineup, Joseph's fantasy value is limited, but the 2017 first-round pick is demonstrating he might have some upside in Pittsburgh once the two veterans are out of the picture.

Chad Ruhwedel - Surprising two-point effort Ruhwedel recorded two assists in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders.
Impact The veteran defenseman was in and out of the lineup due to injury and went 27 games without getting onto the scoresheet from mid-November through the All-Star break, but he's suddenly produced three helpers in his last three games. Ruhwedel has never had more than 13 points in an NHL season, however, and 2022-23 doesn't figure to break that pattern given his lack of power-play time and bottom-pairing role.

Rickard Rakell - Pots two goals Friday Rakell scored two goals on a team-high eight shots with a plus-3 rating in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders.
Impact Both his tallies came in the second period, helping the Penguins build a 4-2 lead, but they couldn't solve Ilya Sorokin in the third. Rakell has three goals and five points over the last two games, the first time all season he's had back-to-back multi-point performances, and a spot alongside Sidney Crosby has the 29-year-old winger surging toward his first 30-goal campaign since 2017-18.
