Impact He tied the game 1-1 early in the second period, finishing off a passing play with Bryan Rust. And he set up Rust in overtime for the win. Malkin has six points (three goals, three assists) in his past four games, which includes three two-point games.

Bryan Rust - Dominates Blues again Rust scored a goal and added an assist in a 3-2 overtime win over St. Louis on Saturday.
Impact Rust redirected the puck inside the right post off a pass from Evgeni Malkin after his initial shot was blocked. To say he gets up for Blues games isn't an exaggeration -- Rust has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 10 games against them.

Tristan Jarry - First win since return from injury Jarry made 25 saves in a 3-2 overtime win over St. Louis on Saturday.
Impact Pavel Buchnevich opened the scoring in the first minute of the second period and Justin Faulk tied the game 2-2 with 2:27 remaining to force the extra frame. It was Jarry's first win in three games since his return from injury and a nice rebound after getting pulled in the second period of his last game (Thursday) after allowing six goals to the Oilers.

Impact Pettersson's first goal of the season gave the Pens a 2-1 lead late in the third period, as he scored from the slot with a wrist shot off a rush. His last goal came April 29, 2022, when he put up a three-point effort in the Pens' last game of the regular season.

Kasperi Kapanen - Put on waivers Kapanen was placed on waivers by Pittsburgh on Friday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Impact Kapanen has seven goals and 20 points in 43 games with the Penguins this season. However, over his last 15 outings, he's provided a goal and just four points. Kapanen has also averaged only 12:02 of ice time in 2022-23, down from 14:32 last season and his height of 16:37 with Toronto in 2018-19. The 26-year-old is on the first season of a two-year, $6.4 million contract.

Casey DeSmith - Nearly perfect in relief DeSmith was forced into relief duty Thursday, setting aside 14 of 15 shots in a 7-2 loss to the Oilers.
Impact The Penguins were a mess defensively, but DeSmith -- who played the final period -- largely stopped the bleeding after starter Tristan Jarry saw the puck go past him six times on 29 shots. DeSmith had the unenviable task of trying to stop Connor McDavid's penalty shot, and the league's top skater easily won the battle. Since Jarry started the last two games following a month-long absence from an upper-body injury, the Penguins may call on DeSmith for Saturday's road clash against the Blues.
