The Pittsburgh Penguins have sent struggling goaltender Tristan Jarry back to Pittsburgh so he can get in some individual work in hopes of breaking out of an early-season funk

Tristan Jarry - Not on road trip Jarry is back in Pittsburgh to work on his form, Josh Yohe of The Athletic reports Thursday.
Impact Jarry went 1-1-0 with 12 goals allowed on 73 shots (.836 save percentage) over his first three games of the year. With the 29-year-old back in Pittsburgh, it's safe to say he won't play Friday in Edmonton or Saturday in Vancouver, but he could get a chance to get back on track as soon as Tuesday's game versus the Wild. Jarry will have his work cut out for him in regards to regaining playing time, as the Penguins still have Alex Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist on the NHL roster.

Kevin Hayes - Plucks apple in shootout loss Hayes notched an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames.
Impact Hayes set up a Rickard Rakell goal in the third period just after a Penguins power play expired. The helper was Hayes' first of the year to go with three goals through eight contests. The bottom-six forward has added 12 shots on net, five hits and a minus-4 rating. He's a two-time 20-goal scorer, but he'll struggle to reach that mark if he continues to see roughly 10 minutes per game.

Cody Glass - Assists in back-to-back games Glass logged an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames.
Impact Glass has three helpers this season, including two over the last two contests. The 25-year-old forward was listed on the fourth line Tuesday, but he played 15:49 of ice time in a strong performance. Through eight outings, he's added 13 shots on net, a minus-2 rating, five hits and four blocked shots. More ice time could help him put up stronger offense, but Glass is unlikely to score enough to be a factor in fantasy.

Matt Grzelcyk - Draws assist Tuesday Grzelcyk notched an assist, three blocked shots, two shots on goal and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames.
Impact Grzelcyk helped out on a Rickard Rakell tally in the third period. Through eight contests, Grzelcyk has maintained a top-four role while earning three assists, 14 shots on net, 14 blocked shots, six hits and a minus-3 rating. He's topped the 25-point mark just once in his career, so the 30-year-old defenseman is unlikely to score enough to help most fantasy managers, and he rarely makes up for it with non-scoring production.

Marcus Pettersson - Collects helper in shootout loss Pettersson notched an assist and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames.
Impact Pettersson snapped a three-game slump with a helper on a Noel Acciari goal in the third period. The 28-year-old Pettersson has a respectable four points over eight contests so far, but he's struggled a bit defensively in a top-four role. The Swede has added 10 shots on net, 10 PIM, eight hits, 11 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating. He produced a career-high 30 points in 2023-24, but Pettersson's fantasy value is limited to deeper formats since he rarely receives power-play time.

Impact Karlsson has earned a helper in four of the last five games, and two of those assists have come on the power play. The 34-year-old defenseman has produced strong offense so far with six points over eight contests, though he also has a minus-4 rating. Karlsson's also notched 15 shots on net and 10 blocked shots, though fantasy managers will primarily count on him for offense.

Sidney Crosby - Earns power-play assist Crosby registered a power-play assist, five shots on net and four hits in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames.
Impact Crosby had been held off the scoresheet in the previous two games, his longest drought since another two-game dry spell from March 10-12 of last season. The superstar center has a goal, six assists, four power-play points, 22 shots on net and 13 hits through eight outings to begin 2024-25. Crosby may struggle to match the back-to-back 90-plus-point campaigns he's produced, but it's clear there's still plenty of magic in his game in his age-37 season.

Impact Acciari drained his first goal of the season, giving the Penguins a 3-2 lead in the third period. The 32-year-old forward is up to three points, eight shots on net, 26 hits, 11 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through eight contests. His 14:39 of ice time Tuesday was his highest total this season, which suggests he could be in line to be promoted to a middle-six role after playing primarily on the fourth line.

Through two starts, Nedeljkovic has given up eight goals on 61 shots while going 0-1-1, doing nothing to stabilize the Penguins' disastrous goaltending to begin the year. Nedeljkovic, Tristan Jarry and Joel Blomqvist have all had struggles, though Blomqvist has put forth the best results. The Penguins have a back-to-back with stops in Edmonton on Friday and Vancouver on Saturday, but at this point, it's tough to trust any of the team's goalies in fantasy.
