Impact Sogaard suited up as Anton Forsberg's backup in Saturday's 2-1 shootout win over Minnesota. Joonas Korpisalo (undisclosed) has plenty of time to recover from a minor injury before Friday's home game against the Islanders.

Erik Brannstrom - First goal key to win Brannstrom scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's 2-1 shootout win over the Wild.
Impact With the Senators down 1-0 early in the third period, Minnesota cleared the puck into Ottawa's end for a line change. Goalie Anton Forsberg pounced on it and fired a pass to a wide-open Brannstrom at the opposite blue line, who had a clear path to Wild netminder Filip Gustavsson and blasted a slapshot past him. Brannstrom has never scored more than two goals in an NHL season, and this was his first point in 2023-24, so an offensive surge for the 24-year-old defenseman seems unlikely.

Anton Forsberg - Sharp in shootout win Forsberg turned aside 24 shots in regulation and overtime and all three shootout attempts he faced in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Wild.
Impact The veteran Swedish netminder was the star of the show in Stockholm. Not only did he make a number of key stops to keep Ottawa in the game until they finally got on the board early in the third period, it was Forsberg's pass that sprung Erik Brannstrom for the tying goal. It's Forsberg's first win since Oct. 18, evening his record at 3-3-0, and on the season he sports a 3.21 GAA and .860 save percentage.

Impact The Senators were allowed to take three goaltenders to Sweden for this type of occurrence, so Mats Sogaard will back up Anton Forsberg on Saturday versus the Wild. Korpisalo turned aside 37 shots Thursday in a 5-4 overtime win over Detroit, improving his record to 5-4-0. Consider him day-to-day at this time and he is expected to be ready to return to the crease in time for the Senators next game, Friday versus the Islanders.

Impact Sogaard will be the backup goaltender versus the Wild as Joonas Korpisalo is day-to-day with a minor injury. Sogaard was already with the Senators as a third goaltender with the team in Sweden for a pair of games and has now been activated. Sogaard was 4-3-0 with a 2.35 GAA and .923 save percentage in eight AHL games before his recall.

Impact It will be a battle of Swedish netminders as Filip Gustavsson will be in the Minnesota net. Forsberg is 2-3-0 with a 3.79 GAA and .833 save percentage as he has given up 13 goals on only 51 shots in losing his last three games. He will try to get back on track against the Wild, who are 16th in NHL scoring, averaging 3.27 goals per game.
