Impact Kylington has struggled to secure full-time opportunities in the NHL since missing the entire 2022-23 season, appearing in just 52 regular-season games over the last two years. Still, the 28-year-old blueliner should find an interested NHL team out there somewhere if he is willing to accept a two-way contract.

Signs with Carolina Kylington signed a professional tryout agreement with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Impact Kylington has spent seven seasons in the NHL, playing 220 games between the Flames and Ducks. He's totaled 18 goals, 42 assists, 225 blocked shots and 117 hits. However, he had a much more limited impact during the 2024-25 campaign, logging just one goal, four assists and 18 blocked shots while averaging 12:18 of ice time over 19 appearances. He'll have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Hurricanes this fall.

Impact Kylington's helper was his first point with the Ducks since he was traded from the Islanders just before the deadline. The 27-year-old blueliner saw just 8:44 of ice time Wednesday, and he'll be at risk of losing his place once Jacob Trouba (lower body) returns. Kylington is at five points, six shots on net, 18 blocked shots, eight PIM and a minus-2 rating over 19 appearances between the Ducks and the Avalanche in 2024-25, and he's unlikely to see anything more than third-pairing usage.

Kylington will have a much better chance of getting into the lineup in Anaheim than he did in Anaheim or he would have on Long Island, especially after the Ducks dealt Brian Dumoulin to the Devils earlier Thursday.
