Nathan Bastian - NHL News & Rumors

Earns one-year deal Bastian signed a one-year, two-way contract with Florida on Sunday and was placed on waivers, PuckPedia reports.

Impact Bastian attended Florida's training camp on a professional tryout agreement. If he clears waivers, he could start the 2026-27 campaign with AHL Charlotte. Bastian collected six goals, seven points, 25 shots on net and 85 hits over 36 regular-season appearances with Dallas in 2025-26.

Attending Florida's camp Bastian signed a professional tryout agreement with the Panthers, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports Tuesday.

Impact Bastian will enter the mix for a fourth-line job with the Panthers during training camp. The 28-year-old was limited to seven points in 36 regular-season appearances with the Stars in 2025-26 before a hand injury cost him 15 straight contests at the end of the campaign. Bastian will likely be auditioning for a two-way contract during his time with Florida in the preseason.

SEPTEMBER 15 • ROTOWIRE

Was ready to play Bastian (hand) told reporters Monday that he could have suited up for Game 6 against the Wild, Sam Nestler of DLLS Sportsreports.

Impact Bastian hadn't played in an NHL game since March 28 against the Penguins, a stretch of 15 contests on the sidelines due to his hand injury. The 28-year-old winger will head into the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. Considering he logged just 36 regular-season contests this year, recording six goals and one assist, fantasy managers probably want to look elsewhere, even in deeper formats.

MAY 4 • ROTOWIRE

Skating with team Bastian (hand) will travel with the team in order to start skating, but won't be available until the next round, at the earliest, Robert Tiffin of D Magazine reports.

Impact Bastian was already likely to be out until early May based on his original 3-4 week recovery timeline. The winger has been on the shelf since March 28 versus the Penguins. Even once given the all-clear, the Ontario native is far from a lock to get into the lineup and could serve as a healthy scratch periodically.

Could miss rest of regular season Head coach Glen Gulutzan said Tuesday that an optimistic outlook for Bastian's (hand) return to the lineup would be within the next 10 days, according to Owen Newkirk of DLLS Sport...

Impact Gulutzan's comments don't sound overly promising that Bastian will return during the regular season, but the 28-year-old's injury doesn't appear to be a long-term concern. The Stars have eight regular-season games remaining on their schedule before they attempt to take home the Stanley Cup in the 2026 postseason.

Bastian has four goals, 20 shots on net, 15 PIM, 61 hits and a plus-2 rating over 26 appearances this season.
