Stars take losing streak into game against the Wild

The Dallas Stars look to stop a three-game skid with a victory against the Minnesota Wild
JANUARY 7•ASSOCIATED PRESS
Joel Hanley - Snags helperHanley recorded an assist and blocked two shots in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Predators.
ImpactHanley may have more security in a third-pairing role with Miro Heiskanen (lower body) out week-to-week. This was Hanley's second game in a row, though he did see a majority of the playing time over Nils Lundkvist in December. Hanley has two helpers, seven shots on net, 15 hits, 11 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 15 appearances, so even if he sticks in the lineup, he won't be a fantasy option.

Mason Marchment - Generates helper in lossMarchment posted an assist and five shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Predators.
ImpactMarchment stayed warm, earning his ninth point over the last four games. The winger has enjoyed a much better second season in Dallas -- he's at 30 points through 38 contests this season after logging just 31 points in 68 appearances a year ago. The 28-year-old has added 75 shots on net, 29 hits, 32 PIM and a plus-12 rating in 2023-24.

Matt Duchene - Contributes helperDuchene posted an assist and blocked two shots in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Predators.
ImpactDuchene has six helpers over his last four games as he continues to power the Stars' second line. He set up a Tyler Seguin tally to get Dallas on the board in the second period. Duchene is up to 11 goals, 24 helpers, 82 shots on net, 29 blocked shots and a plus-13 rating over 37 contests this season. He's had just one full campaign north of a point-per-game pace, but his 13.4 shooting percentage is in line with recent seasons, so this could be a sustainable level.

Thomas Harley - Steps up in Heiskanen's absenceHarley registered two assists, including one on the power play, and blocked two shots in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Predators.
ImpactHarley has played over 24 minutes in consecutive contests, his heaviest workloads of the season. It appears the Stars will lean on the 22-year-old to help cover for the absence of Miro Heiskanen (lower body), who is out week-to-week. Harley has shown plenty of positives in his first full campaign, including racking up nine points over his last 11 outings. For the season, he's at 19 points, 57 shots on net, 64 blocked shots and a plus-10 rating over a career-high 35 contests. Check the waiver wire -- Harley isn't likely to be available for much longer in most formats.

Tyler Seguin - Lights lamp in lossSeguin scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Predators.
ImpactSeguin got the Stars on the board midway through the second period. He has racked up four goals and two assists over his last four games. His line with Matt Duchene and Mason Marchment remains a key part of the Stars' success this season. Seguin is up to 14 tallies, 29 points, 80 shots on net and a plus-5 rating through 38 contests. He's on pace to reach the 60-point mark for the first time since 2018-19, when he had 80 points in his last full 82-game season.
