The 27-year-old forward has three goals, four assists and 21 shots on net over eight appearances. He was waived by the Lightning after beginning the year with no points in seven NHL games, but a strong showing in the AHL could help him get back up to the big club later in the campaign.

Impact Chaffee's placement on waivers will allow the Bolts to send him down to AHL Syracuse. After going pointless in his first seven outings, the 27-year-old winger was left out of the lineup for Tampa's last two contests, with the team opting to roll with seven defensemen instead. Given his limited offensive upside, it seems unlikely another team will put a claim in on the Michigan native.

Impact Chaffee was hurt on a hit by Jesse Puljujarvi in the third period. Head coach Jon Cooper didn't have an update on Chaffee's status but thought the hit is worthy of a suspension. The Lightning have piled up injuries at the wrong time -- Chaffee was playing because Luke Glendening (upper body) and Oliver Bjorkstrand (lower body) were already unavailable. Chaffee should be considered day-to-day ahead of Thursday's game versus the Rangers.

Impact The Lightning's deadline deal to bring in Oliver Bjorkstrand and Yanni Gourde has made playing time for bottom-six minutes more competitive. It also doesn't help Chaffee's cause that the Lightning are leaning toward dressing seven defensemen regularly, as he has often been out of the lineup to let Darren Raddysh stay in. Chaffee has done well at times with 17 points, 64 shots on net and 124 hits across 62 appearances, but he's earned just six of those points in his last 32 outings. Unless the Lightning rotate players out for rest ahead of the playoffs, Chaffee is likely to stay a healthy scratch.

Chaffee has just 11 goals and five assists in 55 games this season, but four of those snipes have come on the power play. His fantasy value is limited, but his coach clearly has increased confidence in him.
