Andreas Englund - Still struggling to join lineup Englund was scratched for a sixth straight game in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
Impact Englund played three times earlier in January when Joel Edmundson was unavailable. However, Englund has since returned to being a frequent healthy scratch, and his path to the lineup has gotten even tougher since the Kings have resumed playing just six blueliners. Drew Doughty (ankle) is also nearing his season debut. While the Kings could take an unconventional approach and carry nine defensemen on the active roster for a while, ultimately one of Englund, Kyle Burroughs or Jacob Moverare will likely need to be waived eventually. Given Englund's limited playing time and uninspiring play, there's a good chance he could be the odd man out.

Alex Laferriere - Grabs helper in return Laferriere recorded an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
Impact Laferriere had missed four games due to an upper-body injury and went five contests without a point prior to the absence. The 23-year-old winger returned to a third-line role but saw 17:11 of ice time Saturday. He was fantastic early in the campaign, and while he's slowed in the middle section, he's still at 13 goals, 14 assists, and a plus-11 rating through 42 contests, surpassing his totals in those areas from his 81-game rookie campaign in 2023-24. He's added 93 shots on net and 75 hits in 2024-25, adding a little grit down the lineup.

Phillip Danault - Lights lamp in overtime loss Danault scored a goal and blocked two shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
Impact Danault hadn't scored since Dec. 14 against the Rangers, though he had a decent seven assists over 14 outings between goals. The 31-year-old's tally Saturday tied the contest at 1-1. The center is up to four goals, 23 points, 69 shots on net, 42 hits, 40 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating while filling a middle-six role through 45 appearances this season.

Quinton Byfield - Forces overtime Saturday Byfield scored a goal on four shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
Impact Byfield picked a good time to end an eight-game goal drought, tying the contest at 2-2 with 1:05 left in the third period. He had just one assist during his scoring slump, though he's continued to see ample playing time in a top-six role. Byfield is up to 10 goals, 22 points, 87 shots on net, 40 hits and a plus-2 rating over 46 outings.

Justin Danforth - First point since return Danforth logged an assist, three shots on goal, four hits and two blocked shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Kings.
Impact The helper was Danforth's first point in four games since he returned from a lower-body injury that cost him over a month. The 31-year-old forward has resumed a bottom-six role, and he's valued for his defensive work and physicality. That won't necessarily make him a strong fantasy option. Danforth has nine points, 55 shots on net, 62 hits, 33 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating over 29 appearances in 2024-25.
