His production across the board is too low to be helpful in fantasy, but it appears he's carving out a larger role in the lineup.

Impact Holl picked up his second helper of the year. He's been in the lineup in seven of 11 contests in November, though he continues to be in competition with Albert Johansson and Erik Gustafsson for third-pairing minutes. Holl has added 17 blocked shots, eight hits, four shots on net and a plus-2 rating through 14 appearances this season, so he's not even really standing out with physicality, which is typically his biggest strength.

Petry is considered day-to-day, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Holl return to the AHL once Petry is medically cleared. However, Holl could have a chance to see some ice time with Detroit at home Saturday.

Impact Holl still has two more seasons left on his three-year, 10.20 million contract. He produced five assists, 14 shots on goal, 39 blocked shots and 59 hits across 38 appearances with Detroit in the 2023-24 regular season. He could begin the 2024-25 campaign with AHL Grand Rapids.

Impact Expectations were high for Holl since the Wings granted him a three-year, $10.2 million contract last summer, but the right-shot defenseman wasn't utilized nearly as often as he was with the Maple Leafs for the first six years of his NHL career. Last season, Holl picked up a pair of goals, 16 assists, 139 blocked shots and 151 hits in 80 games for Toronto, and he averaged 20:14 of ice time. The Wings' blue line was much more crowded in comparison this year, leaving Holl as the odd-man out in terms of opportunities.
