Placed on waivers Holl was placed on waivers by the Red Wings, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports Sunday.

Impact Holl was placed on the waivers ahead of final cuts by the Red Wings last year, but he went on to play 73 games at the NHL level, going for eight points. This season, the Red Wings are once again placing the 33-year-old on waivers. He is in the last year of a three-year, $10.2 million ($3.4 million AAV).

Impact Holl went minus-4 with 12 blocked shots in that span. The 33-year-old has settled into a third-pairing role during the absence of Jeff Petry (undisclosed), and barring any trades for defensive reinforcements, Holl should resume playing there when the Red Wings' schedule restarts Feb. 22 versus the Wild. He's unlikely to interest most fantasy managers given his lack of offense -- he has five points with 20 shots on net, 51 blocked shots, 25 hits and a minus-7 rating over 47 outings this season.

Holl's spot in the lineup appears to be safe until Jeff Petry (undisclosed) is ready to be activated from injured reserve.

Holl could even see a larger role if Jeff Petry (undisclosed) misses time after getting hurt Thursday. Holl is at four points, 11 shots on net, 18 hits and 36 blocked shots through 30 appearances, so he won't be a strong fantasy option even if he continues to play regularly.
