Inks two-way deal Roy signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Mammoth on Monday.

Impact After making NHL appearances for the Canadiens in each of the past three seasons, Roy was traded to Utah from Montreal earlier Monday. He was able to reach an agreement with his new team a few hours later, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him split time between the AHL and NHL under his two-way deal during the 2026-27 campaign. Across 57 regular-season appearances with AHL Laval last year, Roy recorded 23 goals, 22 assists and 32 PIM.

Obtained in trade Utah acquired Roy from Montreal on Monday in exchange for Maksymilian Szuber, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Impact Roy notched 23 goals and 45 points in 57 appearances for AHL Laval during the 2025-26 regular season. The 22-year-old forward has six goals and 11 points in 38 career NHL regular-season outings. Roy is a pending restricted free agent, and he isn't eligible to file for arbitration.

Impact Roy has six goals and an assist over his last three games. He's up to 23 goals, 44 points and 181 shots on net, setting career highs in all of those categories as well as games played (56) in the AHL this year. The 22-year-old has performed well but hasn't gotten many chances with the NHL club.

Impact Roy has four points over his last two games, though he had gone four contests without a point prior to that. He's crossed the 40-point mark for the first time in three AHL campaigns, and he's also secured a second straight 20-goal season. Roy has 38 games of NHL experience to his name, but it'll be tough for him to break into a strong Canadiens lineup.

Impact Roy has five points over his last two games and a total of six goals and seven assists across 12 outings in February. For the season, he's at 33 points, 136 shots on net and a minus-6 rating through 42 contests. He's on pace for a career-high total in points, needing just three to set a new mark, but he's had the time to do so since he's received no call-ups since November.

Impact Roy has picked up four goals and three assists over five contests in February. That's already better production than he had in all of January. The 22-year-old forward is up to 13 goals, 27 points, 109 shots on net and a minus-3 rating through 35 appearances for the Rocket this season.

Impact Roy ended a five-game goal drought with the effort, which was his first multi-point outing since Dec. 28. He's been a fine scorer at the AHL level, but that has yet to translate to the NHL in limited action over the last three campaigns.

Impact Roy's promotion comes as Owen Beck was sent down in a corresponding move. If either of that duo plays versus the Flames on Wednesday, it likely will mean Roy is playing the role of healthy scratch from the press box.
