Lands on waivers Drouin was placed on waivers by the Blues on Tuesday for the purpose of terminating his contract.

Impact Drouin had one season remaining on the two-year, $8 million contract he signed with the Islanders last summer. The left-shot forward was traded by St. Louis in March in the deal that sent Brayden Schenn to the Isles, and it ended up being a tough all-around year for Drouin -- he put up just four goals and 24 points over 64 games between the two teams. The 31-year-old Drouin might have to settle for a prove-it contract when free agency opens Wednesday.

Impact Drouin has failed to make much of an impact since he was acquired from the Islanders in the Brayden Schenn deal. Through eight outings with the Blues, Drouin has two points and 10 shots on net while filling a middle-six role, but he's also been out of the lineup 10 times since his St. Louis debut. Overall, the 31-year-old has just 23 points, 83 shots on net, 32 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 63 outings this season. That suggests his success from the previous two years had more to do with the winning environment he was in with the Avalanche rather than anything Drouin was individually accomplishing.

Impact Drouin took Thursday's game in Carolina off so that he could return to New York to pick up his things. He hadn't gotten a chance to do so since St. Louis acquired him from the Islanders on March 6. Drouin is back with the Blues and is projected to serve on the second line alongside Pavel Buchnevich and Otto Stenberg versus the Oilers.
