Malkin breaks late tie with 2nd goal of game, Penguins beat Lightning 4-3

Evgeni Malkin scored his second goal of the game with 2:43 left and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 on Thursday night for their fourth victory in five game...
DECEMBER 5 • Associated Press
Facing Penguins Johansson will defend the home crease versus Pittsburgh on Thursday, according to Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times.
Impact Johansson has won his last two starts, allowing four goals on 45 shots in victories over Washington and the Rangers. The netminder is 5-2-0 with a 2.92 GAA and an .895 save percentage over eight games this season. The Penguins are generating 3.16 goals per game, 10th in the NHL.
DECEMBER 4 • ROTOWIRE
Barely busy in win Johansson made 12 saves Saturday in a 4-1 victory against the Rangers.
Impact Honestly, we wonder how he stayed awake Saturday -- the Rangers were in a complete slumber. The only goal that got past him was a deflection off J.T. Miller's skate from the slot. Johansson has won two straight games; he allowed three goals on 32 shots in a win over the Capitals on Nov. 22.

Hagel scores twice as Lightning beat Rangers 4-1 and extend winning streak to 7 games

Brandon Hagel scored twice and Jonas Johansson made 12 saves as the Tampa Bay Lighting beat the New York Rangers 4-1 to extend their winning streak to seven games
NOVEMBER 29 • Associated Press
Starting Saturday Johansson will be between the visiting pipes against the Rangers on Saturday, Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley reports.
Impact Johansson will make his second start in the last seven games. He turned aside 29 shots in Washington on Nov. 22, in a 5-3 win. Johansson is 4-2-0 with a 3.23 GAA and an .893 save percentage in seven appearances this season. The Rangers defeated Boston 6-2 on Friday and are 28th in NHL scoring, averaging 2.69 goals per contest.
NOVEMBER 29 • ROTOWIRE
Earns win over Capitals Johansson stopped 29 of 32 shots in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Capitals.
Impact Johansson was beaten once in each period, but the 30-year-old had enough support from the offense to secure the win with ease. This was his fourth win of the season in seven appearances and six starts (4-2-0), but as the backup behind Andrei Vasilevskiy, Johansson's fantasy upside will remain fairly low and strictly matchup-based until further notice.

Hagel scores twice as Lightning hold on to top Capitals 5-3

Brandon Hagel scored two goals and added two assists and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Washington Capitals 5-3 on Saturday night
NOVEMBER 23 • Associated Press
Drawing road start Johansson will patrol the road blue paint versus the Capitals on Saturday, according to Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley.
Impact Johansson had a poor showing in his last start, surrendering five goals on 17 shots in a loss to Vancouver on Sunday. The Swedish netminder is set to make his seventh appearance of the season Saturday -- he's 3-2-0 with a 3.27 GAA and an .890 save percentage in 2025-26. The Capitals have won three straight games while netting 17 goals, including 15 across their last two matchups during that streak, so this could be a tough test for Johansson.
NOVEMBER 22 • ROTOWIRE
Beaten five times Johansson stopped 12 of 17 shots in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Canucks. The sixth goal was an empty-netter with 3:03 left in the third period.
Impact Johansson won three of his first four starts this season, but the 30-year-old netminder has allowed six goals on 24 shots faced over his last two appearances, including a relief appearance against the Rangers on Nov. 12. The 30-year-old remains firmly entrenched as the backup behind Andrei Vasilevskiy, so his fantasy upside won't be very high and will be strictly matchup-based. However, if he continues to play like he did Sunday, he's better suited to remain on waivers across all formats.

Canucks score 5 3rd-period goals to beat Lightning 6-2 and end 3-game skid

Kiefer Sherwood, Linus Karlsson and Drew O’Connor scored in a 1:40 span in Vancouver’s five-goal third period and the Canucks overcame an early deficit to beat the Tampa Bay Lightn...
NOVEMBER 17 • Associated Press
Starting Sunday Johansson is getting the start Sunday against the Canucks, Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley reports.
Impact Andrei Vasilevskiy started Saturday, so it will be Johansson getting the second end of the back-to-back Sunday against the Canucks. The 30-year-old has a 3-1-0 record, 2.83 GAA and a .913 save percentage in five appearances this season. The Canucks come in having won just one of their last four contests, but offense hasn't been the issue; the team has scored 14 goals over that timeframe.
NOVEMBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
Needed in relief Wednesday Johansson turned aside six of seven shots after replacing Andrei Vasilevskiy to begin the third period of Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Rangers.
Impact It was a frustrating night for the Lightning in general, as they scored three times in the first period but still headed into the intermission down 4-3, and their offense went cold the rest of the way. Vasilevskiy got lifted as much to save him from himself as to try and spark Tampa Bay into a comeback that never materialized. The one puck that did get past Johansson in the third, on a Vincent Trocheck shot from the slot, came with a little bit of contact from Alexis Lafreniere that wasn't judged to rise to the level of goalie interference. Johansson is 3-1-0 through five appearances this season with a 2.83 GAA and .913 save percentage, and with the Bolts facing back-to-back games this weekend, look for him to get one of those starts.

Cuylle, Trocheck score two each as Rangers beat Lightning 7-3

Will Cuylle and Vincent Trocheck each had two goals, and the New York Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 7-3 for their second straight win
NOVEMBER 13 • Associated Press
Earns third win Johansson stopped 25 of the 27 shots that he faced during Sunday's 4-2 win against the Mammoth.
Impact Johansson earned his third win of the year in his fourth start, cooling down a Mammoth team that had won seven of the past eight games. The 30-year-old had surrendered three goals in each of his previous three starts but only allowed two Sunday on the way to his best single-game save percentage of the season so far (.926). The Lightning netminder now has a 3-1-0 record, a 3.04 GAA and a .916 save percentage this year.

Guentzel scores in the 3rd period as the Lightning beat the Mammoth 4-2 for their 5th straight win

Jake Guentzel snapped a tie in the third period, and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Utah Mammoth 4-2 for their fifth consecutive win
NOVEMBER 2 • Associated Press
Tending twine Sunday Johansson will guard the road goal against Utah on Sunday, per Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley.
Impact Johansson is coming off a 37-save performance in a 4-3 win over Anaheim on Oct. 25. He has a 2-1-0 record this season while permitting only nine goals on 104 shots. Utah is tied for fourth in the league with 3.64 goals per game this campaign.
NOVEMBER 2 • ROTOWIRE
Sharp in win Johansson made 37 saves Saturday in a 4-3 win over Anaheim.
Impact Johansson has been sharp this season. He's put up a 2-1-0 record with a 3.04 GAA and .913 save percentage in three starts this season. Johansson's success has helped mask Andrei Vasilevskiy's struggles so far. The franchise netminder is still waiting for his first win, and he has a .885 save percentage in five starts.

Guentzel, Cirelli each score 2 as Lightning beat Ducks 4-3 to snap four-game skid

Jake Guentzel and Anthony Cirelli each scored twice and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 to snap a four-game skid
OCTOBER 26 • Associated Press
Expected to face Anaheim Johansson is set to start at home against Anaheim on Saturday, per Benjamin Pierce of the Lightning's official site.
Impact Johansson has gone 1-1-0 while stopping 58 of 64 shots (.906 save percentage) across two games this season. The Ducks are off to a strong 4-2-1 start and rank fifth in goals per game with 3.71, so they might be a tough matchup for Johansson. The decision to deploy Johansson on Saturday suggests that Andrei Vasilevskiy will probably get the start at home against Vegas on Sunday.
OCTOBER 25 • ROTOWIRE
Takes loss Saturday Johansson made 28 saves in a 3-2 loss to Columbus on Saturday.
Impact He's now 1-1-0 with a 3.06 GAA and .906 save percentage. Johansson has the Bolts only win this season, and his counting stats are better than starter Andrei Vasilevskiy who has a 3.50 GAA and .886 save percentage. That won't last for long, but it may give Johansson an extra start or two early this season.

Takes loss Saturday Johansson made 28 saves in a 3-2 loss to Columbus on Saturday.
Impact He's now 1-1-0 with a 3.06 GAA and a .906 save percentage. Johansson has the Bolts' only win this season, and his counting stats are better than starter Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has a record of 0-2-2 with a 3.50 GAA and an .886 save percentage. OCTOBER 19 • Associated Press
In goal versus Columbus Johansson will guard the road goal versus the Blue Jackets on Saturday, Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley reports.
Impact Johansson is playing the second half of a back-to-back. He won his first start with 30 saves on 33 shots against the Bruins on Monday. Andrei Vasilevskiy has struggled and may get more rest if he can't right the ship soon, which would open the door for Johansson to play more.
OCTOBER 18 • ROTOWIRE
First win of season Johansson made 30 saves in a 4-3 win over the Bruins on Monday.
Impact It was his season debut. Johansson made just 18 starts (19 appearances) in 2024-25 and generally delivered when he was in the net. He went 9-6-3, although his 3.13 GAA and .895 save percentage were a touch queasy. Johansson is unlikely to get many more starts than last season, even if the Bolts would be better served in the postseason by keeping Andrei Vasilevskiy a little more rested over the year.
