Takes hard-luck loss Halak stopped 28 of 29 shots in Sunday's 1-0 loss to New Jersey.
Impact Halak was perfect aside from a Kyle Palmieri deflection goal late in the first period, but a depleted Bruins lineup -- with team scoring leader Brad Marchand (COVID-19 protocol) among the absences -- was unable to generate any offense at the other end of the rink. Halak has just one win in his last five starts (1-3-1), posting an .880 save percentage or worse in three of them. The 35-year-old dropped to 7-5-3 on the year with a 2.17 GAA and .919 save percentage.

Impact Daniel Vladar gets the starting nod in Saturday's game versus the Sabres, so Halak will be in net Sunday. Halak has held his own in March, posting a .926 save percentage and a 3-2-2 record through seven appearances. He figures to garner the bulk of the starts as long as Tuukka Rask (upper body) is out.

Impact Rask had just returned from an undisclosed injury, but lasted just a single period before exiting. There is no update on his status. Halak has allowed 12 goals in his last four appearances and at least three in three of those four. Expect him to step in the top role again until Rask can return, but watch for overuse challenges. Halak has been an outstanding 1B goalie in a platoon, so we need to see how the weight of additional games might affect his performance, if at all.
