Expected starter for Saturday Dobes is set to start on the road against Florida on Saturday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.

Impact It will be Dobes' NHL debut. He has a 2.44 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 14 outings with AHL Laval in 2024-25. Cayden Primeau is set to be put on waivers Saturday, so it appears Dobes will be with the Canadiens for the foreseeable future. The Panthers will be a challenging first opponent -- Florida ranks sixth in goals per game with 3.44.

Impact The 23-year-old netminder will travel with the Canadiens on their two-game road trip to the state of Florida. Dobes was 9-3-1 with a 2.44 GAA and a .910 save percentage across 14 appearances with Laval. There is no word as to whether Samuel Montembeault or Cayden Primeau are hurt, but the move gives the Canadiens a full complement of 23 players on their roster.

Impact Dobes drew a preseason start against Toronto on Sept. 26 and allowed two goals on 34 shots. Despite his solid performance in the defeat, he'll head to the AHL ahead of the regular season, and he'll likely spend most, if not all, of the year in the minors.

Impact Dobes had a 2.93 GAA and a .906 save percentage in 51 contests with AHL Laval in 2023-24. Although he's getting into preseason action with the Canadiens, the 23-year-old is expected to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.
