Impact Tikkanen saw action in 29 regular-season games for AHL Bridgeport last year in which he posted a 17-9-1 record, .897 save percentage and 2.65 GAA. Selected by the club in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft, the 25-year-old backstop will likely have to split the net with Joshua Kotai in the minors and is unlikely to appear in an NHL game.

Impact Tikkanen has gotten to play more regularly while Marcus Hogberg is away from Bridgeport to provide the Islanders with depth at the NHL level. Tikkanen is up to 5-2-1 with a 2.57 GAA and an .898 save percentage over eight contests this season. This was his second career AHL shutout.
