Impact Kral spent the 2025-26 campaign playing in the minors with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. With the Baby Pens, the 25-year-old blueliner notched seven goals and 22 helpers in 61 outings. Despite solid numbers, Kral failed to make an NHL appearance for Pittsburgh. Considering Kral has logged just two NHL games in his career, he could be hard-pressed to work his way back and could finish his career abroad.

Joining NHL roster Kral was promoted from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.

Impact Kral hasn't appeared in an NHL game since 2022-23 when he was with Toronto, registering two hits, one block and one shot in two games while averaging 9:58 of ice time. Kral's promotion could be an indication that there is another injury on the blue line ahead of Thursday's season finale versus the Capitals.

Given the number of blueliners ahead of him on the depth chart, including John Ludvig who was also waived Friday, Kral faces an uphill battle for minutes this season.
