Eric Comrie - NHL News & Rumors

Cut from camp Comrie was designated for waivers by the Sharks on Friday.

Impact Comrie went 12-11-1 with a 3.13 GAA and .890 save percentage in 25 regular-season contests for Winnipeg last year. With Yaroslav Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic on the roster, not to mention Ilya Samsonov, the goalie room proved too crowded for Comrie to secure a spot on the roster.

Yields six goals in loss Comrie stopped 27 of 33 shots on net in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Sharks.

Impact Comrie struggled in Winnipeg's season finale, as he allowed two goals in the opening period before surrendering three more tallies in the second. With the loss, the 30-year-old netminder will wrap the season with a 12-11-1 record, a 3.13 GAA and an .890 save percentage across 25 outings this season. He improved as the season dragged on, with six wins over his final eight outings, but primarily served as Connor Hellebuyck's backup when the latter was fully healthy. Comrie is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, leaving his viability in fantasy up in the air ahead of next season.

Poised to start Thursday Comrie was the first goalie off and is expected to be between the pipes at home versus the Sharks on Thursday, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Impact Comrie has played in just 24 games this season, going 12-10-1 with a 3.00 GAA. It's been a slow stretch for the netminder of late, as the Jets were utilizing Connor Hellebuyck with extra frequency in the hopes of making the playoffs. A free agent this summer, Comrie could try to find another landing spot where he could see extra work.

Tough outing against Mammoth Comrie stopped 31 of 35 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Mammoth. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.

Impact This was Comrie's first start since March 22, as the Jets rode with Connor Hellebuyck during their failed pursuit of a playoff spot. The 30-year-old Comrie has appeared in a career-high 24 games this season, earning a 12-10-1 record with a 3.00 GAA and an .894 save percentage. The Jets have one game left on the schedule, which is Thursday at home versus the Sharks.

Tending twine Tuesday Comrie will draw Tuesday's road start against the Mammoth, per Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.

Impact With the Jets eliminated from postseason contention, the Jets will turn to Comrie to give Connor Hellebuyck some rest. Overall, Comrie has a 12-9-1 record, a 2.95 GAA and an .894 save percentage across 23 appearances this season. Tuesday's appearance will be his second in the team's last three games after he appeared in relief of Hellebuyck on Saturday. Comrie will face off against the Mammoth, who should pose a good challenge for the 30-year-old netminder with their 12th-ranked 3.23 goals per game this season.

Gives up two goals in relief Comrie allowed two goals on three shots on goal in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Flyers.

Impact Comrie entered the game in the final period, but by that time, the Jets were already down 5-1 and had no chance to mount a comeback. Still, that doesn't make this outing any better since he was beaten in two of the three shots he faced. The Jets still have an outside chance to make the playoffs in the final week of the regular season, so they're expected to rely on Connor Hellebuyck between the posts. Comrie is not expected to see action any time soon, especially considering how bad he looked in this short stint.

Secures shootout win Comrie stopped 27 shots in regulation and overtime and both the shootout attempts he faced in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Impact Both tallies against Comrie came in the second period as the visitors rallied from one-goal deficits, but the 30-year-old netminder prevented New York from ever taking a lead. It was Comrie's sixth straight win dating back to Jan. 9, a stretch in which he's produced a sparkling 1.48 GAA and .943 save percentage.

Looking to extend win streak Comrie will get the start in goal for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Impact With the Jets sitting just five points back of a playoff spot, Connor Hellebuyck has been getting the vast majority of starts, but he is getting a rare game off Sunday. That being said, Comrie has been successful when he's been out there as of late. The 30-year-old brings a personal five-game winning streak into Sunday's contest that dates back to Jan 9. Overall, he is 11-9-1 on the season with a 2.96 GAA and an .895 save percentage. The Rangers average 2.80 goals per game on the season, 25th in the NHL.

Win streak at five Comrie stopped 29 shots in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Blues.

Impact He was by far the busier of the two netminders as the Jets got out-shot 31-16 on the afternoon, but Comrie took a shutout into the third before seeing it spoiled by Dalibor Dvorsky. Comrie hasn't lost a game since Jan. 1, going 5-0-0 over his last five starts with a dazzling 1.39 GAA and .946 save percentage, but coach Scott Arniel has also been very careful with his deployment -- none of the starts have come against teams currently in line for a playoff spot, and Comrie has beaten St. Louis (29th overall) twice during his hot streak while also downing Vancouver (32nd), Los Angeles (24th) and Florida (23rd).
