Returns to AHL
Ferguson was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Wednesday.
Impact
Ferguson was called up Tuesday to serve as a practice player because Filip Gustavsson was away with Team Sweden. The Swedish club played its final game of the 4 Nations Face-Off on Monday, so Gustavsson has presumably rejoined the Wild after a short breather, which would explain why Ferguson is back in the minors.

Promoted from minors
Ferguson was elevated from AHL Iowa on Tuesday.
Impact
Per the Wild's release, Ferguson will serve as a practice player as allowed under the terms of the 4 Nations Face-Off rules. Essentially, Minnesota is being allowed to carry an extra goalie while Filip Gustavsson is away from the team with Sweden. Once Gustavsson rejoins the club, fantasy players can expect Ferguson to head back down to the minors.

Returns to AHL
Ferguson was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Sunday.
Impact
Minnesota recalled Ferguson on an emergency basis to occupy the backup role behind Marc-Andre Fleury in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Nashville. Ferguson's demotion to the minors likely bodes well for the availability of Filip Gustavsson (illness) ahead of Monday's road matchup versus Colorado. Gustavsson could still make his scheduled start versus the Avalanche.

Recalled from minors
Ferguson was recalled from AHL Iowa on an emergency basis Saturday, per Joe Smith of The Athletic.
Impact
Marc-Andre Fleury is getting the start, so it's likely that Filip Gustavsson is either suffering from an injury or illness. Ferguson had a 3-6-0 record with a 3.70 GAA and an .881 save percentage over nine AHL games before his recall.

Injured Wednesday
Ferguson suffered an undisclosed injury against AHL San Diego on Wednesday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Ferguson was just signed to a two-way deal Tuesday and likely would have been recalled ahead of Thursday's matchup with Colorado after Marc-Andre Fleury came down with an illness. Without Ferguson or Jesper Wallstedt (undisclosed) available, the Wild will have to hope Fleury can power through as the backup to Filip Gustavsson or resort to using an EBUG as their No. 2.

Inks NHL deal
Ferguson signed a one-year, two-way contract with Minnesota on Tuesday and then was placed on waivers for reassignment to the minors.
Impact
Ferguson has been playing for Minnesota's AHL affiliate Iowa on a minor-league deal this season, posting a 3-4-0 record and .900 save percentage in seven outings. Now with a two-way contract in hand, the 26-year-old netminder could be recalled to the NHL roster if needed down the road.

Signs AHL deal
Ferguson agreed to terms on a one-year, minor-league contract with AHL Iowa on Tuesday after being released from his PTO with Vancouver, Dylan Loucks of The Hockey News reports.
Impact
Ferguson's days with Vancouver were numbered as soon as the team brought in veteran Kevin Lankinen. The club already has some young backstops competing for ice time with AHL Abbotsford, so keeping Ferguson would have created an unnecessary logjam. Without an NHL deal, Ferguson figures to spend the entire year in the minors with Iowa.

Gets a chance with Vancouver
Ferguson signed a professional tryout agreement with the Canucks on Sunday.
Impact
Ferguson will have an opportunity to win a role in the crease, at least in the short term, while Vancouver netminders Thatcher Demko and Arturs Silovs work their way back to full health. The 25-year-old Ferguson was drafted in the seventh round by Dallas in the 2017 NHL Draft. The British Columbia native played for Minsk Dynamo of the KHL in 2023-24 -- he had a 9-9-0 record with a .904 save percentage and a 2.51 GAA in 23 regular-season contests. Ferguson has appeared in just three NHL games between Vegas and Ottawa throughout his career.

Reassigned to minors
Ferguson was sent back to AHL Belleville on Tuesday.
Impact
Ferguson's demotion is a good indication that Cam Talbot (lower body) will at least be healthy enough to serve as the backup against the Flyers on Thursday, though Ferguson could still be called up prior to that tilt. During his stint in the NHL, the 24-year-old Ferguson logged two appearances for the Sens in which he posted a 1-1-0 record, 2.52 GAA and .940 save percentage.

Allows four goals to New Jersey
Ferguson stopped 30 of 34 shots in a 5-3 loss to New Jersey on Saturday.
Impact
Ferguson allowed at least a goal in each period, including two markers on 13 shots in the second frame. New Jersey's final goal was scored on an empty net. Ferguson was making his second NHL start of the 2022-23 campaign after saving 48 of 49 shots in a 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh on Monday.

Links up with Senators
Ferguson signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Senators on Thursday for the remainder of the 2022-23 season, per CapFriendly.
Impact
This move likely just shores up the Senators' organizational goaltending depth. Ferguson's lone NHL appearance came in 2017-18 with Vegas. He's spent the bulk of the year in a reserve role with AHL Toronto.
