Impact Walcott had announced his retirement from professional hockey just days before signing his PTO with the Panthers, but seems ready to give it another season with the team's minor-league affiliate. Unless he signs a two-way deal with the club at some point, Walcott figures to play on a minor-league-only contract this season, making him ineligible for a call-up.

Impact Walcott had announced his retirement from hockey August 29 but apparently he is not through with the game. The feisty 31-year-old played one game at the NHL level with Tampa Bay back in the 2020-21 campaign, picking up a five-minute fighting major and seven hits in 10:03 of action.

Impact Walcott spent the bulk of his time with AHL Syracuse and ends his career as the Crunch's all-time leader in games played with 494 games played. He made one NHL appearance with the Lightning back in 2020-21 as well.

Back in AHL Tampa Bay released Walcott on Saturday from his professional tryout agreement and returned him to AHL Syracuse.

Impact Walcott signed a one-year, AHL deal with the Crunch in August. The 29-year-old blueliner provided 13 goals, 32 points and 103 PIM in 67 games with Syracuse last campaign.
