Re-signs with club
Vladar inked a five-year, $27.5 million contract with Philadelphia on Wednesday, per agent Dan Milstein.
Impact
Vladar logged 59 regular-season games for the Flyers last year, posting a 2-14-7 record and a career-best 2.42 GAA. The 28-year-old backstop appears to finally be the solution to Philly's problem between the pipes, though that's been said in the past of netminders coming off a good first year with the team. Still, he should be the clear No. 1 option heading into 2026-27 and could see upward of 60 games.

Ends season in impressive fashion
Vladar made 37 saves Saturday in a 3-2 overtime loss to Carolina in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Second Round.
Impact
Vladar was the game's third star -- he was absolutely pelted with pucks. Yes, the Canes swept the Flyers in four, but not because of Vladar -- his mates managed only five goals in those four games. 2025-26 was the season of Vladar. The beleaguered former member of the Flames went 29-14-7 with a 2.42 GAA and .906 save percentage in 51 starts this past season, and a 4-6 playoff record with an amazing 2.18 GAA and .922 save percentage. Vladar has been a solid fit to backstop head coach Rick Tocchet's aggressive style. He's going to be a target on draft day next year.

Expected to start Saturday
Vladar is slated to start at home against Carolina for Game 4 on Saturday, per Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News.
Impact
Vladar is 4-5 with a 2.11 GAA and a .921 save percentage in nine playoff outings this year. While those overall postseason numbers look good, he's been less effective against Carolina in the second round, going 0-3 while allowing 10 goals on 96 shots (.896 save percentage). The Flyers need a win Saturday to avoid elimination. Carolina is 7-0 and has averaged 3.00 goals per game in the 2026 postseason.

Series slipping away quickly
Vladar stopped 26 of 30 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 3.
Impact
Vladar has lost all three games in the second round, giving up 10 goals on 95 shots in those defeats. The netminder is still 4-5 for the postseason, but this was the first time he's allowed more than three goals in a playoff game this year, so he's not trending in the right direction. It's looking likely that the Flyers are simply not on the same level as the Hurricanes. Vladar is likely to get the chance to save the season in Saturday's Game 4.

Set to start Game 3
Vladar is expected to patrol the crease at home for Game 3 versus the Hurricanes on Thursday, Jackie Spiegel of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Impact
Vladar has given up three goals in four of his last five outings, all losses, while recording a 42-save shutout in the fifth. While the 28-year-old backstop did enough to get the Flyers past in-state rivals Pittsburgh in the first round, head coach Rick Tocchet may have to consider giving Samuel Ersson a look if Vladar comes out flat again in Game 3.

Downed in OT by Carolina
Vladar made 40 saves Monday in the Flyers' 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes in Game 2 of their second-round series.
Impact
Philadelphia grabbed a 2-0 lead before five minutes has elapsed in the first period, but Vladar couldn't make it hold up as he faced his highest shot volume yet in the postseason. The 28-year-old netminder still hasn't given up more than three goals in any of his eight playoff starts so far, posting a dazzling 1.89 GAA and .929 save percentage, but he and the Flyers are down two games to none as the series shifts to Philly for Game 3 on Thursday.

Starting Game 2
Vladar will start Monday's Game 2 on the road against Carolina.
Impact
Vladar drew the Game 1 start in Carolina and allowed three goals on 23 shots (.870 save percentage) in the 3-0 loss. However, he posted shutouts in two of his six first-round appearances and will attempt to bounce back in Game 2 of the second round Monday.

Allows three goals in loss
Vladar stopped 20 of 23 shots in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 1 of the second round.
Impact
Vladar and the Flyers were down 2-0 by the 7:30 mark of the first period as the Hurricanes' second line showed no rust after a week off. While Vladar was able to settle in after that, the Flyers' offense made no inroads against the Hurricanes' defensive structure, totaling just 19 shots on net for the game. Vladar would have to really struggle to lose his spot as the Flyers' No. 1 goalie. He's 4-3 this postseason and has allowed no more than three goals in any of his seven games so far. Expect him back between the pipes for Game 2 on Monday.

Slated starter Saturday
Vladar is expected to start on the road in Game 1 against Carolina on Saturday.
Impact
Vladar went 4-2 while posting a 1.61 GAA and a .937 save percentage in six appearances against Pittsburgh in the first round. Although he did excel against the Penguins, Carolina is another challenging adversary. Pittsburgh ranked third in goals per game during the 2025-26 regular season with an average of 3.54, while Carolina finished second at 3.55. Vladar did well against the Hurricanes in the 2025-26 regular season, going 1-0-1 while stopping 54 of 58 shots (.931 save percentage).
