Garners helper in loss Lazar accounted for an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and a plus-1 rating in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Ottawa.

Impact Lazar set up Tomas Tatar's fourth goal of 2024-25 in the middle frame, tying the score at 1-1. Lazar's assist was his first point since Oct. 25. The right-shot center has appeared in only 24 games after dealing with a knee injury for much of the campaign. He hasn't been much of a fantasy factor in those outings, earning just one goal and two assists while averaging 10:07 of ice time in a fourth-line role.

Impact Lazar could return to the lineup as early as Saturday in a return match with Carolina. The 29-year-old has missed 24 of the last 25 games with the injury and the Devils don't want him to play on back-to-back nights. Lazar has a goal and an assist with 37 hits across 13 appearances this season.

Not playing Thursday Per Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers, Lazar (knee) will not play in Columbus on Thursday, according to coach Sheldon Keefe.

Impact Lazar missed 21 games with a knee injury suffered Oct. 27 versus Anaheim, and returned to action Tuesday for the first time in 22 games. He did not come out of the game healthy as the Devils will likely shut him down until after the Christmas break. Lazar has a goal and an assist in 13 games with the Devils this season.

Impact Lazar has been out of action since Oct. 27 versus the Ducks, a stretch of 21 games on injured reserve due to his knee problem. Prior to getting hurt, the 29-year-old center was struggling to produce offensively with just one goal and one assist in 12 contests. Once Lazar is cleared to play, he figures to take Justin Dowling's spot in the lineup.

Impact Lazar had already been ruled out indefinitely after undergoing a knee procedure at the end of October, so his move to injured reserve isn't particularly surprising. The Devils recalled Shane Bowers, Justin Dowling and Nolan Foote from AHL Utica on Monday, and they should help provide additional depth while Lazar is unavailable.

Impact Lazar got on the scoresheet when he set up linemate Nathan Bastian's third-period tally. The 29-year-old Lazar looks to be cemented in a fourth-line role, and the bulk of his statistical production will come from hits. Through nine contests, he has a helper, six shots on net, 26 hits and four PIM while averaging 11:22 of ice time.

Impact After missing the last game with a lower body injury, Lazar returned to his regular spot on the wing on the fourth line being centered by Chris Tierney. Impact Lazar is drawing back into the lineup after missing three straight games. He has four goals, 10 points, 57 hits and 25 blocks in 30 outings with New Jersey in 2023-24. Lazar's return is particularly timely because coach Lindy Ruff suggested some of New Jersey's forwards are questionable for Wednesday's contest, though he didn't specify who specifically might miss the game.
