INJURIES

Making season debut Lindgren will get the start for Sunday's battle with the Rangers, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
Impact It will be the 2025-26 season debut for Lindgren on Sunday night, the second of a back-to-back for the Capitals. The 31-year-old saw action in 39 games last season, posting a record of 20-14-4, a 2.73 GAA and a .894 save percentage. He faces a Rangers team, also on the second of a back-to-back, that has filled the net 15 times through three games this year.

Starting against Boston Lindgren will defend the home crease during Thursday's preseason game against the Bruins, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.
Impact Lindgren will make his second start of the preseason during Thursday's matchup. He also started in Sunday's exhibition matchup against New Jersey and turned aside 20 of 22 shots in the shootout victory. Once the regular season gets underway, Lindgren will likely enter a timeshare with Logan Thompson for goaltending duties.

Available Thursday Lindgren (personal) will serve as the backup goaltender at home for Game 5 against Carolina on Thursday, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.
Impact Lindgren has made one appearance in the 2025 playoffs, stopping four of five shots en route to a 6-3 loss to Montreal on April 25. Logan Thompson is expected to serve as the starting netminder versus the Hurricanes.
MAY 15 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable Thursday Lindgren is dealing with a personal matter which could sideline him for Game 5 against the Hurricanes on Thursday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Impact With Lindgren in doubt, the Caps promoted Clay Stevenson from AHL Hershey to potentially serve as the backup to Logan Thompson in Game 5. The 31-year-old Lindgren was on the ice for the morning skate and could still dress in Thursday's game. Regardless of who backs up, Thompson will get the starting nod, making fantasy value for the others minimal.
MAY 15 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to practice Friday Lindgren (personal) returned to practice Friday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Impact Lindgren had a family matter to deal with and did not dress Thursday in Game 2 as Mitchell Gibson backed up starter Logan Thompson. Lindgren is slated to back up Thompson in Game 3 on Saturday. Lindgren was 20-14-3 with one shutout, a 2.73 GAA and an .894 save percentage across 39 regular-season appearances in 2024-25.
MAY 9 • ROTOWIRE
Unavailable Thursday Lindgren (personal) will miss Game 2 at home against Carolina on Thursday.
Impact Lindgren has made one relief appearance in the 2025 playoffs, stopping four of five shots in a 6-3 loss to Montreal on April 25. The Capitals will stick with Logan Thompson in goal Thursday, while Mitchell Gibson will fill in as the understudy.

Makes relief appearance Lindgren stopped four of five shots in relief of Logan Thompson (leg) in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Canadiens in Game 3.
Impact Thompson's injury didn't look good, so it could be Lindgren's crease for a while in the postseason. Lindgren went 20-14-3 with a 2.73 GAA and an .894 save percentage over 39 regular-season appearances. The 31-year-old has limited experience as a starter, but if he's forced to close out this first-round series, he may find some motivation by playing against his former team.

Sharp in win over Islanders Lindgren stopped 32 of 33 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Islanders.
Impact Lindgren has alternated wins and losses over his last five games, but this was his first really good performance in that span. The netminder only gave up a fluky goal midway through the third period that went in off a teammate. This win got him to the 20-win mark for the second year in a row -- Lindgren is 20-14-3 with a 2.73 GAA and an .894 save percentage over 39 appearances. The Capitals close the regular season with a favorable matchup Thursday versus the Penguins.

Dylan Strome scored three times, and Washington Capitals beat the New York Islanders 3-1

Starting on Long Island Lindgren will patrol the road blue paint Tuesday against the Islanders, according to Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post.
Impact Lindgren is 1-2-0 with a 3.89 GAA and an .848 save percentage across his last three outings. It's unclear if Logan Thompson (upper body) will be available for the start of the postseason, so Lindgren will look to clean up his game Tuesday against a New York squad that has generated 2.75 goals per game in 2024-25, which ranks 25th in the NHL. Lindgren is 1-2-0 across three career appearances against the Islanders.
APRIL 15 • ROTOWIRE
Beaten four times Sunday Lindgren stopped 19 of 23 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jackets.
Impact Lindgren returned to the starting role after not playing in the 7-0 loss to the Blue Jackets on Saturday, but he couldn't avoid another loss. The 31-year-old has struggled in terms of consistency of late, though, going 3-2-0 with a 3.48 GAA and an .861 save percentage over his last six appearances. It seems the Capitals are no longer rotating goaltenders, so Lindgren could remain in a starting role when Washington takes on the Islanders on Tuesday.
