Plucks apple in loss Soucy notched a helper and two blocked shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights.

Impact Soucy helped out on a Jake DeBrusk tally in the second period. Injuries to Quinn Hughes (oblique) and Noah Juulsen (undisclosed) have offered a reprieve to Soucy's diminishing playing time, but he needs to elevate his game to avoid the occasional trip to the press box. For the season, the defenseman has nine points, 60 shots on net, 83 hits, 87 blocked shots, 42 PIM and a minus-15 rating through 55 appearances, a level of production that likely isn't enough to keep him in the lineup once the team is at full strength.

Scores in garbage time Soucy scored a goal on four shots in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Stars.

Impact Soucy ended a 22-game goal drought, a span in which he had just three assists and a minus-11 rating. Soucy has largely played in a bottom-four role this season, but it's unclear if he'll still be an every-game player after the Canucks' trades Friday swapped out Vincent Desharnais for a much better player in Marcus Pettersson. Soucy is likely to be competing with Derek Forbort for a spot on the third pairing, though if one of them can play on their offhand side, Noah Juulsen could instead exit the lineup. With eight points and a minus-15 rating, Soucy's already a shaky fantasy option anyway outside of formats that reward his physicality (42 PIM, 76 hits, 83 blocked shots), and that becomes more true with uncertainty in playing time ahead.

Impact Soucy ended a 10-game slump when he set up a Phil Di Giuseppe tally in the second period. He's at a goal, three assists, 34 shots on net, 41 hits, 41 blocked shots, 18 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 28 appearances this season. Soucy remains a physical presence in a top-four role, but the lack of offense gives him minimal fantasy upside.

He's picked up a meager two assists to go with 21 shots on net, 23 hits, 28 blocked shots, 10 PIM and a minus-7 rating through 18 appearances. Puts up helper in Game No. 300 Soucy logged an assist, two shots on goal and three blocked shots in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Sharks.

Impact Playing in his 300th career game, Soucy was able to get on the scoresheet when he helped out on Pius Suter's go-ahead tally in the final minute. This was Soucy's first point in 10 outings this season. The 30-year-old defenseman has seen steady second-pairing usage, but he doesn't get much power-play time, instead featuring in a shutdown role. He's added nine shots on net, 11 hits, 19 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating. He's reached the 20-point mark in just one of his NHL campaigns, so Soucy doesn't offer much in the way of scoring upside.

Lights lamp Friday Soucy scored a goal on three shots, added three hits and blocked two shots in Friday's 4-1 preseason win over the Oilers.

Impact This was a good example of Soucy at his best. He got involved in the offense, with his tally being the game-winning goal, but he also chipped in with physicality as he often does. The 30-year-old is likely to be paired with Tyler Myers to begin 2024-25. Last season, Soucy was limited to six points in 40 games while adding 65 hits and 64 blocked shots in a similar second-pairing role.
