Back in concussion protocol
Makar has reentered the NHL's concussion protocol and won't play Friday against Winnipeg or Saturday versus the Flames, Marc Moser of Altitude Sports 950 reports.
Impact
Makar presumably sustained the injury when he collided with St. Louis' Alexei Toropchenko during the third period of Saturday's win over the Blues. He went on to miss Sunday's win over Edmonton and will be sidelined for at least two more contests now that he's back in the league's concussion protocol. With Makar on the shelf, look for Josh Manson to remain in the lineup versus the Jets and Calgary.

Impact
Makar, who was back in action after missing four games with a concussion, was apparently treated for a bloody nose. Kyle Fredrickson of the Denver Gazette spoke after the game with Makar, who said he intends to play Sunday against Edmonton. "Yeah, I hope so," Makar said of suiting up Sunday. "Unless anything turns. Just a tough one. I got kind of bruised on the nose just because I think my visor hit it. But we'll see." He missed about 10 minutes of the final period.

Makar (concussion) will rejoin the Avalanche on Saturday against the Blues, per Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Gazette.
Impact

Makar has missed the last four games, after taking a blindside hit to his head from Pittsburgh's Jeff Carter on Feb. 7. The 24-year-old blueliner has 13 goals and 45 points in 45 games this season, after winning the Norris Trophy in 2021-22, scoring 28 goals and adding 58 assists in 77 games. Might return Saturday
Makar (head) will travel with the Avalanche to St. Louis ahead of Saturday's game versus the Blues, according to Peter Baugh of The Athletic.
Impact
Makar's availability for the contest hasn't been determined, but it's a good sign that he'll at least accompany the team. He's missed the Avalanche's last four games because of the injury. The 24-year-old has 13 goals and 45 points in 45 contests in 2022-23.

Ruled out for Wednesday
Makar (head) won't play Wednesday versus the Wild, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Makar's next chance to play will be Saturday versus the Blues. The 24-year-old defenseman is set for a fourth straight absence, though head coach Jared Bednar added that Josh Manson (lower body) could be an option to play Wednesday, which would help the Avalanche's injury-riddled defense.

Won't play Tuesday
Makar (head) won't play Tuesday against Tampa Bay, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Makar, who has been out since Feb. 7, doesn't have a timetable for his return. Based on that, it wouldn't be a surprise if he sat out Wednesday's game versus Minnesota as well. Still, he hasn't been officially ruled out for that contest yet. Makar has produced 13 goals, 45 points, 141 shots on net, 61 blocks and 58 hits in 45 games this season.

Skating in Denver
Makar (head) skated in Denver on Friday, Brennan Vogt of Full Press NHL reports.
Impact
Makar was feared to have a concussion following a hit to the head from Pittsburgh's Jeff Carter last Tuesday, but Vogt provided video footage of the defenseman, who shared the ice with Darren Helm (lower body). Vogt provided a second video that shows Helm moving at a quicker pace than Makar. Following Saturday's road tilt against Florida, which Makar will miss, Colorado comes back home for a game against Tampa Bay on Tuesday. It's unclear if the blueliner will be ready to go.

Makar (head) will not play on the remainder of the Avalanche's two-game road trip, including Thursday's tilt in Tampa Bay, according to Peter Baugh of The Athletic.
Impact
Makar suffered the injury against the Penguins on Tuesday, when he was blindsided by a Jeff Carter hit to the head. Makar will also sit out Saturday's game in Florida and the Avs will determine his availability when they return home Tuesday to play Tampa Bay. Makar has 13 goals and 45 points in 45 games this season.

Impact
No penalty was called on Pittsburgh's Jeff Carter, and there's no word if the NHL Department of Player Safety will look into it. Makar told Peter Baugh of The Athletic that officials said the two players simply ran into each other, although it was the type of hit the league wants to remove from the game. The Avalanche will monitor Makar heading into Thursday's meeting with the Lightning in Tampa Bay.
