Impact He returned after missing 23 games with an ankle injury that required surgery. Carlo is a rock-solid shutdown defender with limited offensive upside. He has just two assists in 19 games this season. Carlo will eventually deliver blocks to fantasy managers, but that may not be enough to make him worthy of a roster spot.

Recovering from surgery The Maple Leafs announced Friday that Carlo underwent foot surgery Dec. 3 and will be sidelined indefinitely, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports.

Impact Carlo has been sidelined since mid-November due to a lower-body issue, and he suffered a setback in his recovery around early December. He was already slated to miss extended time following his absence, and it's now been revealed that he underwent a procedure on his foot. It's not yet clear when the 29-year-old will be able to return to action.
