Inks two-year extension McMann signed a two-year, $2.7 million contract extension with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

Impact McMann was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after completing his two-year, $1.525 million deal. The 27-year-old has been a solid secondary scorer and physical presence for the Maple Leafs in 2023-24, recording 10 goals, 18 points, 36 PIM and 84 hits across 40 games while averaging 10:34 of ice time.

Impact The AHL sniper notched his 10th goal of the season, firing a sharp shot past Samuel Montembeault's blocker on a second-period 2-on-1. It was McMann's first goal in nine games after piling up seven goals and three assists in a six-game span that started in mid-February. He has stepped up in a middle-six role with the Maple Leafs and can clearly do more if given the opportunity. McMann could be a sneaky fantasy play if he gets bumped up the lineup.

Three goals pace win McMann found the back of the net three times in a 4-1 win over the Blues on Tuesday.

Impact It was a special night for McMann. After only scoring two total goals in his NHL career, he scored his first hat trick to finish off the Blues. The 27-year old winger played only 13:30 minutes but he made the best of it, getting six shots, five hits and a plus-3 rating. His goal barrage started in the first period on the third shot of the game when he outworked the defenseman from behind the net to shove the puck through the five-hole. He added two more in the third period, including an empty-netter, to complete the hatty. After being moved between the AHL and the NHL multiple times this season, McMann is making a case to stay up with the big club.

Playing Monday McMann (undisclosed) will be activated off injured reserve ahead of Monday's clash with the Islanders, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports.

Impact McMann has periodically served as a healthy scratch this season, so his return to the lineup probably shouldn't be considered permanent. Once David Kampf (undisclosed) is deemed fit, he will likely replace McMann in the lineup but that's not expected until after the Leafs' next three games. As such, McMann figures to get a longer look in the lineup.
