Set to start Saturday
Georgiev was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, according to Corey Masisak of The Denver Post, indicating he will defend the road net against Detroit on Saturday.
Impact
Georgiev has posted a mark of 0-2-0 in his last three starts while surrendering 11 goals on 62 shots. He has a 7-7-0 record with a 3.54 GAA and an .867 save percentage through 17 appearances this season. Detroit sits 27th in the league with 2.54 goals per game in 2024-25.

Gets early hook Tuesday
Georgiev gave up four goals on eight shots before being replaced by Scott Wedgewood midway through the first period of Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Sabres.
Impact
Buffalo scored the first four goals of the night, and while a sleepwalking Colorado defense was more responsible for the deficit than Georgiev was, the 28-year-old netminder didn't come up with any big stops to help turn around the game's momentum. He's appeared in seven straight contests but has stumbled to a 3.51 GAA and .873 save percentage over that stretch, and Wedgewood's flawless relief effort Tuesday could signal a change in the Avs' goaltending scheme.

Starting in Buffalo
Georgiev will defend the road net versus Buffalo on Tuesday, per Avalanche play-by-play announcer Conor McGahey.
Impact
Georgiev has lost his last two outings, allowing seven goals on 54 shots. He has a 7-7-0 record with a 3.31 GAA and an .875 save percentage through 16 appearances this season. Buffalo sits 18th in the league with 2.96 goals per game in 2024-25.

ROTOWIRE
Loses again Saturday
Georgiev stopped 28 of 31 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Oilers. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Impact
Georgiev has lost back-to-back starts for the first time since Oct. 28 and Nov. 7. He faced the Stars and Oilers on consecutive days, and that's not an easy assignment for any goalie. Georgiev will face a new challenge for his No. 1 job, as the Avalanche traded for Scott Wedgewood and shipped out Justus Annunen. The acquisition of a veteran like Wedgewood suggests Colorado is not running up the white flag on 2024-25 despite an inconsistent start to the campaign. Georgiev is at a 7-7-0 record with a 3.31 GAA and an .875 save percentage over 16 appearances, and he'll need to be a lot better to keep the team competitive amid another rough patch of injuries. The Avalanche embark on a challenging five-game road trip when they play in Buffalo on Tuesday.

Back in goal Saturday
Georgiev will protect the home net versus the Oilers on Saturday, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
Impact
Scott Wedgewood will be the backup for the Avalanche in Saturday's game after a trade earlier in the day sent him to Colorado and Justus Annunen to Nashville. Georgiev will end up starting both halves of a back-to-back, and he wasn't good with four goals allowed on 23 shots versus the Stars on Friday. If Georgiev continues to struggle, having a veteran like Wedgewood around could turn the Avalanche's crease into a timeshare situation.

Yields four goals in loss
Georgiev stopped 19 of 23 shots in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Stars. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Impact
Georgiev got the nod for the first half of a back-to-back, but he struggled by allowing two goals in each of the first two periods. The Avalanche nearly pulled off a comeback in the third, but they fell short. Georgiev is now down to 7-6-0 with a 3.33 GAA and an .872 save percentage. He's had poor outings in three of his last four appearances, so there may be some concerns about his performance again. Justus Annunen is tentatively projected to start Saturday at home versus the Oilers before the Avalanche set out on a five-game road trip to begin December.

ROTOWIRE
Collects shootout win
Georgiev stopped 18 of 19 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout win over the Golden Knights.
Impact
Georgiev didn't have to do much, but he never had a lead to protect. The Golden Knights' chances faded in the third period and overtime as the Avalanche took over the pace, and Georgiev stopped all five shootout attempts. The 28-year-old has now won his last six decisions, allowed two goals or fewer in four of them. He's 7-5-0 with a 3.26 GAA and an .875 save percentage over 14 outings (13 starts) this season. While he's not turning in top-tier performances, Georgiev has the starting role and looks to have regained some confidence after a terrible start to 2024-25. The Avalanche have a tricky back-to-back up next, with a visit to Dallas on Friday before they return home to face the Oilers on Saturday.

Set to start Wednesday
Georgiev is expected to start at home against Vegas on Wednesday, Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports reports.
Impact
Georgiev has a 6-5-0 record, 3.48 GAA and .871 save percentage in 13 appearances in 2024-25. He did seem to turn a corner with his five-game winning streak from Nov. 9-23 -- his save percentage during that stretch was still nothing special at .904, but his GAA was a solid 2.58. However, Georgiev allowed three goals on 17 shots in relief during Colorado's 8-2 defeat at the hands of the Lightning on Monday. Although Georgiev wasn't the goaltender of record for the loss, it's still a setback. Things aren't expected to get any easier against Vegas. The Golden Knights are 14-6-2 and rank fourth offensively with 3.86 goals per game.

Struggles in relief Monday
Georgiev stopped 14 of 17 shots in relief during Monday's 8-2 loss to the Lightning.
Impact
The 28-year-old entered the ice midway through the first period after Justus Annunen gave up three goals on seven shots in the opening 10 minutes of the game, but he returned to the bench after allowing three more goals between the first and second frames. Georgiev is widely expected to return to the lineup when the Avs take on the Golden Knights on Wednesday amid Annunen's recent struggles.

Wild ride in fifth straight win
Georgiev turned aside 27 shots in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Panthers.
Impact
Florida held a 2-1 lead after the first period, but Colorado scored four straight goals in the second to take control of the game. Even so, Georgiev gave up late goals in each of the final two frames to keep things interesting. The 28-year-old netminder has won five straight starts, posting a 2.58 GAA and .904 save percentage over that stretch.

Facing Panthers
Georgiev will defend the road net versus Florida on Saturday, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports.
Impact
Georgiev has won his last four outings while stopping 96 of 105 shots. He made 28 saves in a 2-1 win over Washington on Thursday after missing two games due to an upper-body injury. Georgiev has a 5-5-0 record with a 3.31 GAA and an .874 save percentage across 11 appearances this season. Florida ranks ninth in the league with 3.45 goals per game in 2024-25.

Wins fourth straight
Georgiev turned aside 29 of 30 shots faced during Thursday's 2-1 road win over the Capitals.
Impact
After a bumpy start of the season, Georgiev has rattled off four straight wins and surrendered two-or-fewer goals in four of his last five starts. With the Avalanche starting to get healthy, the 28-year-old Russian should be able to get plenty of offensive support as he tries to work his way back into the top echelon of fantasy netminders.

Starting Thursday
Georgiev (upper body) will be in the blue paint in Washington on Thursday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Impact
Georgiev has won his last three starts, but has been on the sidelines the last two contests, recovering from his injury. He is 4-5-0 with a 3.56 GAA and an .863 save percentage as he is attempting to come back from a very rocky start in which he was 1-5-0 with a 4.05 GAA and an .847 save percentage. He will face the Capitals, who are first in NHL scoring, averaging 4.33 goals per game, but will be without the services of Alex Ovechkin who is out with a lower leg injury.

Activated from injured reserve
Georgiev (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday.
Impact
Georgiev was unavailable for just under a week due to his upper-body injury, and he'll officially be activated from injured reserve after participating in Wednesday's team skate. The Avalanche haven't yet announced a starting goaltender for Thursday's road game against Washington, so it's unclear whether Georgiev will be between the pipes.

Impact
Georgiev sustained an upper-body injury last week and is on injured reserve, but he's closing in on a return to game action. Whether he'll be available Thursday depends on how he feels after Wednesday's team skate, but even if he's unavailable against the Capitals, it wouldn't be surprising to see him suit up soon.

Lands on IR
Georgiev (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Sunday.
Impact
Georgiev sat out Friday's 5-2 loss to Washington, and he won't be eligible for Monday's road matchup against Philadelphia. A timeline for his return has not been provided yet, but Justus Annunen should see the bulk of the starts until Georgiev is healthy. Colorado called up Kevin Mandolese on Sunday to occupy the backup role.

Suffers upper body injury
Georgiev suffered an upper-body injury and will miss Friday's home game versus Washington.
Impact
Georgiev got off to a very slow start this season, but he was starting to get hot as he had won his last three games in a row. Georgiev is 4-5-0 with a 3.56 GAA and an .863 save percentage in 10 appearances this season. Justus Annunen will get the start versus Washington, with Trent Minor -- who was recalled from the AHL on Friday -- as his backup. Consider Georgiev day-to-day at this time.

ROTOWIRE
Faces little traffic in win
Georgiev stopped 13 of 15 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Kings.
Impact
The Avalanche's defense was superb after the first period, giving the Kings hardly anything to work with over the final 40 minutes. Georgiev was able to limit the damage to two goals by Adrian Kempe en route to his third straight win. The 28-year-old Georgiev improved to 4-5-0 with a 3.56 GAA and an .863 save percentage across 10 starts this season. He's trending in the right direction and appears to have the trust of head coach Jared Bednar once again. The Avalanche have a tough test up next when they host the Capitals on Friday.
