Inks one-year deal Regula (knee) agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with the Oilers on Friday.

Impact Regular missed the entire 2024-25 campaign while recovering from a long-term knee injury, but evidently still showed Edmonton enough to warrant a two-year contract. Looking ahead to next season, Regula will likely start the year in the minors but could eventually get called up to make his first NHL appearance since 2022-23 when he was with the Blackhawks.

Still on season-opening IR Regula was never taken off season-opening injured reserve despite being waived by Boston and claimed by Edmonton on Wednesday, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports Saturday...

Impact An injured player usually can't be put on waivers, but Regula is a rare exception because he signed off on the move with the intention of completing his rehab with AHL Providence. Edmonton does have the option to rescind its claim on Regula because he's not healthy enough to play. However, the Oilers see upside here, so they plan to keep the 24-year-old defenseman. Regula had four goals, 26 points and 41 PIM in 55 regular-season appearances with Providence in 2023-24.

RELEASE: Oilers claim Alec Regula off waivers from Boston | Edmonton Oilers The right-shot defenceman has played 22 career NHL games and recorded one goal

DECEMBER 11, 2024 • NHL.COM

Claimed off waivers Regula was claimed off waivers Wednesday by Edmonton from Boston.

Impact Regula hasn't played yet in 2024-25 because of a knee injury. The 24-year-old defenseman had four goals, 26 points and 41 PIM in 55 regular-season appearances with AHL Providence. Given how much of the campaign Regula has missed, he might get into some practices with the Oilers before Edmonton considers putting him into a game. If he does play for Edmonton, it would probably be as a member of the third pairing.

Placed on injured non-roster Regula (knee) was placed on the injured non-roster list Monday, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports.

Impact Regula underwent offseason knee surgery and was unavailable for preseason action, and it appears as though he'll remain sidelined to begin the regular season. A timetable for his return isn't yet clear, but he could head to the minors once he's deemed healthy.

Set to miss start of camp Regula (lower body) is expected to miss the beginning of training camp, per Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal on Tuesday.

Impact Regula is still working his way back from a lower-body procedure in the summer. The 24-year-old blueliner produced four goals and 26 points across 55 regular-season outings for AHL Providence in 2023-24. Regula will likely play most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

Snags two-way deal Regula signed a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Friday.

Impact Regula has logged just 22 NHL games with the most recent outing coming during the 2022-23 campaign when he was with the Blackhawks. The fact that the 23-year-old defenseman racked up 26 points in 55 games for AHL Providence last year could earn him a look during training camp, but fantasy players should be expecting Regula to spend the bulk of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors with AHL Providence.
