Impact Regula continues to work his way back from offseason surgery that caused him to miss the entire preseason. Won't play during preseason Regula (undisclosed) is expected to skate during training camp but won't participate in any preseason games, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports Wednesday.

Impact Regula's chances of making the Opening Night roster won't be improved by his inability to play in the preseason. In order to secure a spot on the 23-man roster, Regula will need to edge out Spencer Stastney and Ty Emberson for a spot on the blue line. Even if Regula does make the team, he may serve as a healthy scratch more often than not.

Recovering from offseason procedure Regula, who underwent a procedure shortly after the season, will not be available for training camp, the team announced Wednesday.

Impact Regula only appeared in 29 regular-season games last year in which he generated three assists, 15 hits and 18 shots while averaging 14:28 of ice time. Even if fully fit, the 26-year-old defenseman likely faced an uphill battle to secure a spot on the Opening Night roster. As such, Regula is unlikely to offer much in the way of fantasy value moving forward.

Impact Regula finally earned his first point as an Oiler after being plucked off waivers one year and two days ago. He's virtually guaranteed a spot in the lineup following the Oilers' dealings Friday, which sent Brett Kulak to Pittsburgh and brought Spencer Stastney in from Nashville.
