Impact Mattias Janmark (shoulder) and Dylan Holloway (lower body) both landed on long-term injured reserve Wednesday, so Erne will likely get an extended run with the Oilers. Erne has yet to pick up a point through six appearances with the big club in 2023-24.

Impact Erne hasn't registered a point in five games with the Oilers this season. He has been credited with five shots on goal and 14 hits while averaging just 8:19 of ice time per contest. If he clears, Erne could be ticketed for AHL Bakersfield.

Impact Erne came into the season on a professional tryout with the Oilers but was released before Opening Night only to sign a few days later. While the winger's deal is two-way in nature, it seems he will start on the 23-man roster in a bottom-six role.

Impact Erne compiled eight goals, 18 points and 160 hits in 61 games with Detroit last season. He also picked up five assists over nine outings for AHL Grand Rapids in 2022-23. Erne will battle for a depth spot with the Oilers during training camp.

Impact Erne wasn't involved on the power play in his fourth season with the Wings, but he averaged 1:37 on the penalty kill and amassed a career-high 55 blocked shots to go with 160 hits. Still, it wasn't the smoothest campaign for the American winger, as he was waived in February and returned to the AHL for the first time in five years, appearing in nine games for the Griffins. The 27-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
