Earns extension
Vea signed a four-year contract extension Saturday that will take him through 2026. It is worth over $73 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact
Vea's contract is fifth most in terms of total value and also fifth in average annual value for interior defensive linemen, according to overthecap.com. Vea was selected in the first round of the 2018 Draft by the Buccaneers and has been widely regarded as one of the best interior linemen in football since.

Sets new career-high sack total
Vea posted three solo tackles, including one sack, during the Buccaneers' 32-6 win over the Panthers in Week 16.
Impact
The mammoth run-stuffer came through with his fourth sack of the season, establishing a new career high in the process. Vea has three of those takedowns in the last four contests, and he's posted a solid (for an interior lineman) 19 tackles (14 solo), a pair of defensed passes and a fumble recovery over his last eight contests overall.

Rare two-sack effort
Vea (knee) recorded two solo tackles -- both sacks -- and was credited with an additional quarterback hit in the Buccaneers' 30-17 win over the Falcons in Week 13.
Impact
The mammoth defensive tackle is much more renowned for his run-stopping ability than pass-rushing prowess, but he was able to bring down Matt Ryan twice Sunday. It was the first multi-sack game of Vea's career and pushed his season sack total to three overall, tying the career high he'd set in his 2018 rookie campaign. Despite the unlikely statistical surge against Atlanta, Vea remains mostly off the IDP radar due to his modest tackle numbers.
