Not expected to play Week 2
Waynes (hamstring) isn't expected to play in Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Bears, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact
Waynes was held out of Sunday's season opener against the Vikings due to a hamstring issue that bothered him throughout most of camp, and he appears to be on track to miss a second straight game. If he's ultimately inactive, Eli Apple should take on a starting role once again.

Out for season opener
Waynes (hamstring) will miss the Bengals' season opener against the Vikings, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
Impact
There's still a chance that Waynes could come back in the second or third week of the season, given that the Bengals did not place him on IR. Waynes has yet to play a regular season snap for Cincinnati since signing prior to the 2020 campaign. Eli Apple will start in his place versus Minnesota.

Dealing with hamstring injury
Coach Zac Taylor said Waynes (hamstring) is day-to-day, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Waynes has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the majority of training camp, but he was able to partake in the Bengals' second preseason contest against Washington. However, it appears he suffered a setback this week and will likely be shut down until Week 1 of the regular season. When healthy, Waynes projects to be one of the Bengals' starting cornerbacks.

Dealing with injury again
Waynes (leg) is not practicing Thursday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Waynes missed time due to a hamstring injury during the early portion of training camp, and he departed Wednesday's practice early due to an apparent right leg injury. He projects to handle a starting role at cornerback when healthy, so the Bengals may opt to give Waynes plenty of rest before the regular-season opener against Minnesota on Sept. 12.

Full-go during offseason work
Waynes (pectoral) was a full participant during every offseason workout leading up to training camp, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
The Michigan State product missed the entire 2020 season due to a pectoral injury he suffered while weightlifting during last year's training camp, so he's hoping for a strong return in 2021. Prior to joining the Bengals, the 28-year-old produced 247 tackles (215 solo) and seven interceptions across five seasons with the Vikings. Waynes will head into the second year of a three-year, $42 million contract with the Bengals, presumably in a starting role for 2021.
