Lions and Texans meet with coaches whose jobs are not secure

The Detroit Lions gave Matt Patricia another chance to coach this year and have stuck with him so far this season
NOVEMBER 25, 2020 • Associated Press
Ready to go Week 12 Hockenson (shoulder) does not carry an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Texans, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact Hockenson began the week with two straight limited practices, but he managed to upgrade to a full session Wednesday. The top tight will have the benefit of Matthew Stafford (thumb) under center Thursday, and with Kenny Golladay (hip) and Danny Amendola (hip) both ruled out, Hockenson could draw increased target volume versus Houston.
NOVEMBER 25, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Limited in practice Tuesday Hockenson (shoulder) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Impact A second straight limited session to start the week signals that Hockenson should be good to go for Thursday's game against the Texans. The 23-year-old tight end posted a season-high 68 receiving yards last week against the Panthers, and he could garner a similar amount of opportunities if Kenny Golladay (hip) sits out again.
NOVEMBER 24, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Listed as limited participant Hockenson was listed as a limited participant with a shoulder injury on Monday's practice estimation, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact The 23-year-old entered Sunday's loss to Carolina with a toe injury, and he apparently picked up the shoulder issue while catching four of seven targets for a season-high 68 yards. Hockenson appears on track to be available for the Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Texans, and he could avoid an injury designation if he can put in a full practice in the next two days.
NOVEMBER 23, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
New season-high in receiving yards Hockenson caught four of seven targets for 68 yards during Sunday's 20-0 loss to the Panthers.
Impact On a day the Detroit offense generally struggled without each of Kenny Golladay (hip), Danny Amendola (hip) and D'Andre Swift (concussion), Hockenson managed to set a new season high in receiving yardage. Now with at least a touchdown or 60 yards receiving in eight of 10 games this season, Hockenson has been a model of consistency at an otherwise weak fantasy position. While he's yet to display the upside he showed in the 2019 season opener when the then-rookie had 131 yards and a score against Arizona, Hockenson is set up for one of his best matchups of the season in Week 12 against a Texans defense allowing the sixth-most yards per pass attempt (7.8) in 2020.

Stafford, Bridgewater both questionable for Lions-Panthers

Detroit’s Matthew Stafford and Carolina’s Teddy Bridgewater are both questionable for Sunday’s game between the Lions and Panthers
NOVEMBER 20, 2020 • Associated Press
Good to go Sunday Hockenson (toe) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Carolina, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact Hockenson has been listed with a toe injury for almost a month now, but he's still handled at least four targets and 60 percent of offensive snaps in every game this season. He figures to be a big part of the Week 11 gameplan, with Kenny Golladay (hip), Danny Amendola (hip) and D'Andre Swift (concussion) all ruled out.
NOVEMBER 20, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Remains limited Hockenson (toe) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Impact Hockenson's reps were capped for the second day in a row, but the Lions don't seem to have any real concern that he'll miss Sunday's game against the Panthers. If Hockenson can upgrade to full activity Friday, he'll likely avoid taking an injury designation into the weekend.
NOVEMBER 19, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Limited by toe injury Hockenson (toe) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Impact Hockenson managed to play through his toe injury during last weekend's narrow win over Washington, but the issue clearly plagued him on the field. The second-year pro caught just two of four targets for 13 yards without a score, recording his worst fantasy day of the season. Detroit's receiving corps is now nursing a bounty of injuries, as Kenny Golladay (hip) was limited Wednesday while all of Matthew Stafford (thumb), Marvin Jones (knee) and Danny Amendola (hip) were held out, so it would provide the team with a notable boost if Hockenson can get fully healthy in time for Sunday's game in Carolina.
NOVEMBER 18, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Two catches against Washington Hockenson caught two of four targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 30-27 win over Washington.
Impact Hockenson had been a model of consistency at a weak fantasy position all year, but he was exposed by a Washington unit that entered the game allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to tight ends. Perhaps the toe injury that popped up Thursday slowed him down, but there also seemed to be a clear Lions gameplan to feed running back D'Andre Swift and Marvin Jones ended up seeing a season-high 10 targets. Hockenson will look to rebound in Week 11 against a declining Panthers defense that is allowing the seventh-highest completion rate in 2020.
NOVEMBER 16, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Good to go Sunday Hockenson (toe) is active for Sunday's game against Washington.
Impact The 2019 first-round pick was officially questionable to face the Football Team, though Ian Rapoport indicated in the early morning he was on track to play Week 10. Hockenson has five touchdowns through eight games and is averaging 4.3 catches and 45 yards per contest, but he could see more work in the passing game Sunday with top wideout Kenny Golladay (hip) unavailable.
NOVEMBER 15, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to be active Sunday Hockenson (toe), who is questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Hockenson was added to the Lions' Week 10 injury report after he failed to participate in Thursday's practice, but he returned to work Friday in a limited fashion. Confirmation of his status will arrive before the first wave of Sunday kickoffs, with the Lions facing the Football Team at 1 p.m. ET. Assuming he's active, Hockenson would represent one of the top tight-end plays of the Week 10 slate after recording either a touchdown reception or at least 50 yards receiving in each of his eight games to date.

Golladay ruled out for Lions against Washington

The Detroit Lions have ruled out wide receiver Kenny Golladay for Sunday’s game against Washington because of a hip injury
NOVEMBER 14, 2020 • Associated Press
Questionable after limited practice Hockenson (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Hockenson was a mid-week addition to the injury report, albeit with the same toe issue that limited his practice participation last week. He was held out of Thursday's practice entirely, before returning Friday as a limited participant. There hasn't been any suggestion the injury is serious, but fantasy managers would be wise to check back when the Lions release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes prior to the 1 ET kickoff Sunday.

No T.J. Hockenson, Kenny Golladay at Detroit Lions practice Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson, in his second NFL season, leads the Lions with 34 catches and five touchdown receptions this year.
NOVEMBER 12, 2020 • FREEP.COM
Toe injury surfaces Hockenson (toe) didn't practice Thursday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact Hockenson wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, so the extent of his participation during Friday's session should shed light on the tight end's chances of suiting up against Washington on Sunday, but for the time being question marks surround his availability. With Kenny Golladay (hip) trending in the wrong direction for Week 10, an absence on Hockenson's part could leave Detroit's pass catching corps depleted of two of its top options.

Lions stumble to midway point at 3-5 after loss to Vikings

There’s a certain repetitiveness right now to Matt Patricia’s news conferences
NOVEMBER 10, 2020 • Associated Press
Commands eight targets Hockenson recorded five receptions on eight targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 against the Vikings.
Impact Hockenson maintained an increased role in the absence of Kenny Golladay (hip), as only Danny Amendola commanded more targets. He worked close to the line of scrimmage and averaged only 7.8 yards per catch, with his longest reception of the day going for 11 yards. That was the cause of what was mostly an uninspiring stat line for Hockenson, one that he helped prop up with a two-yard touchdown grab late in the fourth quarter from backup quarterback Chase Daniel. Hockenson has solidified his role in the Lions' offense, logging at least six targets in each of past three games. He'll look to work deeper down the field in Week 10 against Washington.
