INJURIES

Over injury Quitoriano (calf) worked out for the Cardinals on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Quitoriano was waived by the Texans with an injury settlement Sept. 4, giving him the chance to find a new opportunity, as opposed to spending the season on IR. His ability to complete a tryout would suggest the Oregon State product is healthy and ready to contribute to a team in need of tight-end depth.

Gets cut loose Quitoriano (calf) was waived with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Quitoriano was set to spend the entirety of the 2024 campaign on IR, but this settlement will allow him to play this season, once he can prove himself healthy and he finds a franchise to sign with.
SEPTEMBER 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Reverts to IR Quitoriano (calf) reverted to injured reserve Wednesday but is expected to reach a short-term injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact The tight end might rejoin the Texans, per Wilson. Quitoriano finished 2023 on injured reserve with groin and oblique injuries after playing in seven games. The third-year pro entered training camp healthy but strained his calf in the Hall of Fame Game against the Bears.
AUGUST 29, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Waived/injured by Houston The Texans waived Quitoriano (calf) with an injury designation Tuesday.
Impact Quitoriano played in just seven regular-season games for the Texans in 2023 before finishing the year on injured reserve due to groin and oblique injuries. The 2022 fifth-round pick underwent surgeries for both injuries and entered training camp healthy, but he strained his calf in the Hall of Fame Game game against the Bears which kept him out of the Texans' final three preseason games. Quitoriano will revert to Houston's injured reserve if he clears waivers, which will force him to sit for all of 2024 unless an injury settlement is reached.

Misses practice Thursday Quitoriano (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact The tight end strained his calf during an Aug. 3 preseason game against the Bears. Quitoriano was the Texans' third tight end before going down, but Cade Stover has taken his place in the days since the injury.
AUGUST 15, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Suffered strained calf Quitoriano is expected to miss at least a few weeks after sustaining a strained calf during Thursday's preseason game against the Bears, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
Impact There was immediate concern about the nature and severity of the injury, but it appears Quitoriano avoided a serious injury. The time missed is expected to lead to more opportunities for rookie Cade Stover, who could emerge as the third tight end, behind Dalton Schultz and Brevin Jordan.
AUGUST 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Injured in Hall of Fame Game Quitoriano suffered a lower-body injury during Thursday's preseason Hall of Fame Game against the Bears, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Quitoriano performed well prior to getting hurt, catching two passes for 21 yards and a touchdown. The tight end was injured in the first half and had to be carted off the field, so there's a possibility he suffered a serious injury. Quitoriano has been competing for a roster spot during training camp among a tight-end room that also includes Dalton Schultz, Brevin Jordan and rookie fourth-round pick Cade Stover.

Healthy for training camp Quitoriano (groin) is fully healthy and does not carry an injury designation Wednesday, ahead of the start of training camp, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Quitoriano will be active and practicing for the start of training camp, per Wilson. After being limited to seven games in 2023 before undergoing groin surgery, Quitoriano will now have a chance to compete for a rotational role at tight end during camp. He adds value to Houston's offense as a blocker.

Moved to IR The Texans placed Quitoriano (groin) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Impact Quitoriano, who sustained the injury in Sunday's 15-13 loss to the Panthers, will now have to sit out for at least the next four games and will be eligible to return against the Broncos on Dec. 3. In a corresponding move, the Texans signed tight end Eric Saubert off the Cowboys' practice squad.

Likely to land on IR The Texans are expected to place Quitoriano on injured reserve after he suffered a groin injury in Sunday's 15-13 loss to the Panthers, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronic...
Impact Quitoriano has split his snaps this season between special teams and on offense as a depth tight end behind Dalton Schultz. With Quitoriano expected to miss time to recover from his groin injury and Brevin Jordan (foot) also set to sit out with a plantar fasciitis issue, the Texans could look to add a tight end to their active roster prior to their Week 9 game against the Buccaneers.
OCTOBER 31, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Exits game with groin injury Quitoriano (groin) is questionable to return for Sunday's contest against the Panthers, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Quitoriano has provided the Texans with depth at tight end behind Dalton Schultz while also playing on special teams. If Quitoriano is unable to return, that would leave Houston with just Schultz at the position for the rest of the contest.
OCTOBER 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Opens eyes in finale Quitoriano caught three of four targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 32-31 win over the Colts in Week 18.
Impact Quitoriano used the last game of his rookie season to flash some of his athletic potential. Used primarily as a blocking tight end since being activated off injured reserve Week 9, the 2022 fifth-round pick broke out with two catches of more than 20 yards (22 and 52). The Texans have soured on Brevin Jordan, and the tight end position is wide open next season. However, Houston fired head coach Lovie Smith, so there will be a new coaching regime in place and anything is possible in 2023.

Good to go Quitoriano (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Mark Lane of USA Today reports.
Impact Quitoriano sat out the Texans' Week 17 loss to the Jaguars after hyperextending his knee in the Texans' Week 16 victory over the Titans. His ability to open Week 18 prep as a full practice participant suggests that he'll be ready to play in Sunday's season finale in Indianapolis. Before sustaining the knee injury, Quitoriano had been serving as Houston's starting tight end and saw snap shares north of 70 percent in his last two full games, but he's been only lighting involved in the passing game. Jordan Akins, meanwhile, has drawn multiple targets in eight consecutive contests and looks like the better Houston tight end to roster for fantasy purposes.
JANUARY 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play Sunday Quitoriano (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Jaguars.
Impact Quitoriano was forced out with a hyperextended knee and bruised quadriceps in the Week 16 win over Tennessee. The rookie was then sidelined for each practice during Week 17 prep, so he'll now sit out for the first time since his Week 9 debut versus Philadelphia. Quitoriano has caught four of 10 passes for 30 yards and two touchdowns this season, so his absence could lead to increased opportunities for Brevin Jordan and O.J. Howard behind No. 1 tight end Jordan Akins.

Impact Though the rookie tight end avoided any structural damage after exiting early in the Texans' Week 16 win over the Titans, he hyperextended his right knee and bruised his quadriceps. The Texans are considering Quitoriano day-to-day with his pair of injuries, but after failing to practice in any fashion so far this week, he'll need to log some on-field activity Friday to have a legitimate chance at suiting up Sunday against Jacksonville.
DECEMBER 29, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Non-participant on estimated report Quitoriano (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report.
Impact An MRI on Monday revealed Quitoriano hyperextended his right knee and bruised his quadriceps following an early exit from last week's loss to the Titans. While the rookie tight end avoided structural damage, he may be sidelined for at least one contest. However, he'll have two more opportunities to practice before the Texans need to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against Jacksonville.

Impact The Texans are viewing Quitoriano as day-to-day at this stage, with his status for this Sunday's game against the Jaguars likely to hinge on how he fares in practices Wednesday through Friday. If the rookie is forced to miss time, the Texans would likely turn to Jordan Akins and Brevin Jordan as their main pass-catching tight ends, while O.J. Howard could factor back into the mix as a run blocker after he was a healthy inactive for two of the team's last three contests.

Won't return Saturday Quitoriano (knee) has been downgraded to out and won't return to Saturday's game against the Titans.
Impact With O.J. Howard a healthy inactive for the Week 16 contest, the Texans will have to get by with Jordan Akins and Brevin Jordan at tight end for the rest of the day. Quitoriano failed to haul in his lone target before departing the game.
DECEMBER 24, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable to return Quitoriano is considered questionable to return to Saturday's game against the Titans due to a right knee injury.
Impact Quitoriano failed to record any receptions before exiting the contest. If he is ulitmately unable to return, Brevin Jordan would be the lone backup at tight end behind Jordan Akins.

Finds paydirt Quitoriano caught one of two targets for eight yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-24 overtime loss to Kansas City.
Impact Quitoriano, who made his fourth straight start at tight end, caught his second touchdown of the season. He missed the first seven games with a knee injury but has seen his playing time increase since being activated for Week 9. Quitoriano has been Houston's tight end leader in snaps the last five weeks. It hasn't translated into much production -- eight targets, three catches, 28 yards -- but the rookie fifth-round pick figures to maintain his starting role over the final three games.
