Gets tender from Seahawks
The Seahawks have extended a right of first refusal tender to restricted free agent Neal, ESPN's Brady Henderson reports.
Impact
Should he sign it, the tender will pay Neal more than $2.6 million. With Jamal Adams suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 1 last year, Neal played an expanded role on the back of the Seattle defense next to Quandre Diggs. Neal was in on a career-high 73 percent of the snaps and recorded one interception.

Sheds injury designation
Neal (knee) is not on the team's Thursday injury report for Saturday's game against the 49ers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Neal hasn't played since Week 15 with the injury, and his return should bolster the team's secondary for the wild-card round. Coach Pete Carroll also said that Neal is "back and ready to go," as reported by Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle, which is confirmed by his lack of a designation on the team's final injury report of the week.

Limited at practice Wednesday
Neal (knee) logged a limited practice session Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Neal missed the final three games of the regular season due to a knee issue that first popped up Week 13 versus the Rams. He didn't practice at all between Week 16 and 18, so the fact that he was listed as limited during Tuesday's walkthrough and again for Wednesday's practice session at least gives him a chance of returning for Saturday's wild-card contest against San Francisco. Neal's ability to play would be a huge boost for the Seahawks against the 49ers' explosive offense, and if the fifth-year safety does indeed take the field, Johnathan Abram would likely see a reduced role in Seattle's secondary.

Won't play Sunday
Neal (knee) has been ruled inactive ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale against the Rams.
Impact
Neal will finish the 2022 regular season with three consecutive absences due to a lingering knee injury. With Seattle in need of a Week 18 win over the Rams as well as a Packers loss to Detroit in order to make the playoffs, the 27-year-old could have to wait until the 2023 campaign before he suits up again. In his stead, Johnathan Abram figures to step in as the Seahawks' starting strong safety Sunday.

ROTOWIRE
Questionable for Week 18
Neal (knee) is considered questionable for Sunday's game versus the Lions.
Impact
Neal has been dealing with a knee issue since Week 13, leaving him sidelined for the Seahawks' last two games. He also did not manage to practice in any capacity during Week 18 prep, and Seattle coach Pete Carroll said the 27-year-old is still unlikely to play despite being officially labeled as questionable, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN.com. As a result, it's likely Johnathan Abram, who played every defensive snap in place of Neal during Week 17, will continue to handle starting strong safety duties in the regular-season finale.

Won't suit up versus Jets
Neal (knee) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets.
Impact
Neal will miss his second game in a row while dealing with a lingering knee issue. He'll now look to work his way back to practice ahead of the Seahawks' regular-season finale against the Rams. With Neal out, expect Teez Tabor and Johnathan Abram to split snaps at strong safety Week 17.

ROTOWIRE
Questionable for Week 17
Neal (knee) is considered questionable to play in Sunday's game versus the Jets, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Impact
Neal has battled some knee soreness following the Week 14 win over the Rams, leaving him sidelined for the first time this season during Saturday's loss to the Chiefs. Seattle coach Pete Carroll said that the 27-year-old safety is now considered a game-time decision despite failing to practice during Week 17 prep, according to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic. Should Neal remain sidelined Sunday, expect Teez Tabor and Johnathan Abram to split snaps at strong safety for the second week in a row.

ROTOWIRE
Not playing Saturday
Neal (knee) is listed as out for Saturday's game against the Chiefs, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Neal has been dealing with knee soreness over the past few weeks, though this issue will keep him sidelined for the first time in Week 16. The 26-year-old has played nearly every defensive snap since Week 5, so his absence will likely leave Teez Tabor and Joey Blount to step up into bigger roles alongside starting free safety Quandre Diggs. Neal's next chance to play will come Sunday, Jan. 1 versus the Jets.

Sits out practice Tuesday
Neal (knee) was a non-participant during the Seahawks' practice Tuesday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Impact
Neal is dealing with a sore knee that has kept him sidelined during multiple practices over the past two weeks. However, he's still suited up and played nearly every defensive snap in each of Seattle's last two games, logging 16 tackles and two passes defended over this span. Barring any significant setbacks, expect Neal to play Saturday versus Kansas City regardless of his activity level in practice leading up to this game.
